Well I never salute this way !!! Maybe he is a Nazi? |

The sin would be pride. and I didn't know that we used to salute like that, thats funny. do you have any examples of this Zeissman? |

So, what sin would that be? And do you have any examples? Interestingly, this used to be how we would salute in the US before WWII |

I got it, and I thought it was an excellent statement. I was pretty sure that the controversy factor would sink your score, rather than people taking the time to think about the message. Nice work! |

Many of you thought I was portraying my patriotism. Infact I was giving the Nazi salute. I am not a nazi. Yet I do feel that we Americans are becoming in and in some cases we have become pre-World War II germany. |

light behind the head is showing/ a bit hot/ over exposed. |

I agree. Great idea and good photo. rated it 6. Would like to not see the light above the head. |

Could you sharpen this up any more without losing image quality? I think so. :) |

In my opinion this is a disgrace to the flag but, It is a nice photo |

I don't get it? We have become what? The picture is pretty good but I think you left too much to the imagination. It just isn't speaking to me. The colors are good, the silhouette is good, and I'm sure it makes perfect sense to you. But not me. The back light is good except the glare over the silhouette. Also it looks like she or he is holding something...can't tell what. Anyway..Best of luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious |

I'm confused, but that's okay. I love the flag lighting and the foreground darkness. I also love the flag, so you come out ahead even if you mean something negative. 8 nards656 |

I am pretty sure your flag is backwards.....

I like the picture - the subject, the light from the back, the clarity. I just don't know what it is supposed to represent. |

Is this a white pride comment? I cannot say I really understand this. Zeiss |

Powerful image (although I personally don't agree wholeheartedly (don't completely disagree either))... 2 small nitpicks would be = the top of the hand would have worked better if it was silhouetted in the flag instead of lost in the shadow above it... and 2 ~ A good Nazi would never have hair like that :) Get a haircut you damn hippie :) ~MyQyl~ |

Very nice silhouette, but maybe I think it would look better without any of the wall or doorframe in the photo, but with the flag taking up the whole background? 9 - Konador |

Great tie-in with the challenge.. the image itself is original and highly visually appealing. I love the lighting. Great idea and execution through and through. Good luck with those who oppose your ideology marking you down. 9 wingy |

while I don't agree with the message in regards to america as a whole, this is a powerful image and I am glad I took a second look |

Hmm...love the idea here...silhuette with a backlit flag (any flag would do) background. The message is clear..though I don't buy into it :P I would have maybe aimed the cam a little more downward to include more torso and less above window space. Halo around head is a little distracting. 9 Lisa |

Interesting. The backlighting gives it an interesting effect, and I like the perspective you have taken. My only suggestion would be to crop it a little tighter at the top, and try to eliminate the blaring spot at the top of the head. As far as the challenge is concerned, I am a little more than confused about which sin(s) you are portraying. karmat |

initial reaction -- we have become too proud? wrathful? not sure i'm getting exactly which sin you are depicting. challenge -- met technical -- good use of silhouette. if the light source was just a little lower, it wouldn't give you the blowout directly abov the head. not sure what he is holding in the hand. if that's crucial to the photo, you'd maybe have your model kneeling down and the photograph from the floor up to get the same angle, but the hand in front of the flag and not melting into the background. composition -- straight on works here. some distracting stuff to the sides of the flag at the top, maybe a 640x427 could've eliminated that. overall -- 5 from gr8photos |

The hand disappears behind the dark background, and the light is showing from behind the head.
You could also have done more by borrowing from Nazi/Communist imagery. Try using a model with short hair and a powerful physique, or use a middle aged businessman (Stormtroopers of the capitalist hedgemony!) as that would make a statement too. You need to lose the T-Shirt. |

Is this Gordon? :) just wondering -- gutsy shot, i don't like it cuz i am an American, but it is a good deliverable message, and very well constructed Nice backlighting, technically decent. if it wasn't for the anti-american thing, i'd given you higher but hey, that's my preference :) gutsy shot, probably will get some good votes from foreigners but bad votes from Americans. I'll give you a 8 paganini |
