Disk lamp with a single 15 watt bulb gives the illusion of being the sun itself when taken just as the sun was setting behind the window with the Chinese shade. The graceful lady is a part of the lamp. No flash was used and no editing was done. This is the original shot straight out of the camera.

simply stunning.

This is beautiful, but unavoidably you have two lights, technically the challange asked for one. The photo is technically wonderful, so I'm not going to penalize you heavily, I'll let the others do that. Even though I really like this image, I feel I have to lower your score a tad, from 8 to 7, sorry. Swash

"artificial light source" doesn't meet challenge.. unless there's some trick I'm not catching here. 1 wingy

very interesting photo.

I really really like this. I love the orange glow that the shade makes, and I love the subject you have lit. Your light source is very nice, and the angle and framing/cropping on this is excelent. I'm assuming that this was taken at night with a very bright light outside the window. Creative and original. Excelent job. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

I think if the edge of the table was cropped out would be better. Also a bit dangerous using the woed sun in the title, even thoug you are using an artificial light! Open for misinterpretation!

Not my type but bet it gets high scores. Well done. Personally doesn't suit my tastes.

nice pic, it would be interesting to see the rule of thirds applied here:

Simply awesome!!! Great composition and expression of your model. One moment I thought about cropping the shaddow areas on the left and the right side of this shot. But you decided right with leaving them in your photo. 10 - nds

Beautiful and elegant image. Did you try a vertical version with less negative space?

Nice subject choice, with a gorgeous, very complimentary background. I'm not sure if the shadows from the tree (?) outside help or hinder. The outer, dark margins to the right and left seem unnecessary to me. I think I would have consider shooting this as a vertical (or cropping to that). Nevertheless, a very nice shot.

You WILL send me a nice big version of this when this is all over. This will be going in my favorites as soon as I can put it there. Whoever says it's not on the thirds, they can kiss my.... This is great. It has it all. 10, 10, 10, 10. Congrats on a wonderful shot. - Inspzil

Looks like Erte or Gruau, were they your inspiration? Great job. My highest grade of the week.

where was this in the negative space challenge?

Very nicely done. Top 5 for me. An 8
I'd like to see 2 other versions:
1. where the back light was larger, but not as intense, perhaps filling the "sun"
2. the other without the spot light.

This is a very nice photo... I think it would be much better if it was a single light source... It seems that there are two here... the light bulb and the natural light from the window... - setzler
