Yeah, another egg shot. I was always fascinated with these before I got my studio gear... this was the first time introducing a loose wet liquid into the range of the lights and camera.

We'll see how it goes.

I like it. So it will score pretty low I'm sure.

AFTER

Wow... better than I was thinking, since my shots do so poorly normally. After the initial round of voting, I was actually thinking I might have a top 10, but top 25 is nice too. So thanks. Nice that I never got a 1 or 2 this go round (that survived the sweeper).

As for the mess, sorry. I'm not stupid. I would have loved to time it that way, but discretion is the better part of cleanup.

As you can see, the top egg is on a string. I held it with my left hand and took the shot one handed when the egg spun to a good location in line with the cracked egg. I managed to spin the cracked egg around too so that the inside of the shell would be visible.

The top shell is completely empty of "egg" using a blowout trick. You make one hole in the shell and then another smaller hole in the top and then "blow" in the top hole forcing the egg out the bottom hole. I then used a needle to run some knotted black thread up through the holes to allow it to suspend.

No waste, BTW. The blownout egg was used by my wife to make a batch of cookies. The cracked egg on the glass was given to my dogs as a treat.

Yeah, it did do better than I thought, but not as well as I eggspected. :)

Great lighting. The solid egg looks kinda like the moon.

If not for the white specks here and there it would be a ten to me. As is: 8

I would've cloned out the dusties (especially whatever is coming off the cracked egg), but otherwise this is an excellent shot (I almost used "eggcellent", but I have a feeling that joke has probably already been made somewhere in the challenge. :P).

Did you notice that if you look only at the top egg, it looks kind of like a picture of the moon?

Great minds think alike. I almost did the same thing. Glad I didn't! This is well executed... I love the lighting, it's full, but still leaves shadow for the dramatic feel. My favorite is the way the texture comes through on the egg shells. Well Done.

How many eggs did you break trying to do this shot? Plenty of mess to be made here.

I think the shot is great. Light is pretty good on this. Black background is perfect as it then means the colours stand out well. Coulours and whites are good. This shot really works.

A few minor, tiny things....
The line on the RHS of the photo, I guess where the table and backdrop meet is visable.
The small pieces of egg shell ont he table, would have been good if they were noticed and removed prior to dropping the second (or 22nd) egg. Would have been hard to remove the tiny bits in the egg white without stuffing it up, but these are not as much of a problem anyway.
Both things would have been easily fixed under the advanced rules, but under basic can't be done.......

Not voting, don't have time to go through the images, but this stood out when having a quick look at the thumbnails. Would have got a high score from me (that would then have been scrubbed)

I really hope that egg is dropping and not cleverly suspended as I want to gove you extra marks for clear up time!! : D

I really like the idea and the shot. Only bad point is the shadow on the falling egg making it an odd shape

Great idea and set-up. The bottom egg's a bit contrasty though.
