Ya know if a person don't like this type of photo why wouldn't they just pass it by and not even vote or comment on it instead of letting everybody know they don't like it.
Nice capture by the way. |
This is exactly the reason I dont come in here that often anymore... if you dont comment they b*tch about it, if you do, they also b*tch about it!!!! The point of this place was to learn... hard to do that with a closed mind...
About the pic, wouldnt have picked it as a first place, but lighting and detail are beautiful. I agree the model looks a little stiff and nervous. Maybe have her turn her head to the side? I havent seen the out takes (i will in a minute), so disregard if her head is turned in one of them. In any case, congratulations on your ribbon!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed nobody will sacrifice me for saying something negative! (not) |

I'm glad to see that your image is the center of controversy. This is a beautiful capture of a most beatiful woman. It is surprising to me that on this site this capture got first place in a non-nude challenge. There are a lot of conservative people on this site that will vote down an image because they don't agree with the nude content.
The point that the person below is making is that Ja-9's comment "bow should have been bigger...don't really like these kind of pictures...sorry a little too much in my face...but your photo is clean and crisp" is that its like me saying about a picture of a Christmas tree in a non-Christmas tree challenge "I don't really like pictures of Christmas trees cause I'm not Christian." The comment does not add anything technical to help the photographer out. It just gives an opinion about that persons views. Now if someone made that comment they would get hammered, for that comment, by the side that hammers photos like this. Well you know if you don't like violent movies or porn you probably don't watch them. But I agree with Mick. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Opinions are like arse-holes after all.
Congratulations on your first place winning image.
Ben

No! I'm not kidding! There's nothing complimenting the photo except saying it's clean and crisp. The rest is just an expression of someones dislike of the content. I personally don't consider that to be constructive critisism. |
Where is it written that all comments must be compliments? I'm not aware of any such rule. Ja-9 has a right to her opinion just like everyone else here.
I don't much care for this photo either. I love good nude photos, but I think they should be sexy and this just doesn't cut it. The model looks nervous and stiff and the pose is rather awkward.

I'm sure many married (or not) couples have done this classic idea of putting ribbons and bows on Him or Her. When I saw it was going to get a ribbon. Personally, I also like some of the adult female Elves I sometimes see with Santas, wearing red and green tights.
That's agreat pose, the winding ribbon reminds me of a sweet, Candy Cane!
Also balanced symetrically, elbow/heel on one side hair/knee on the other. |

i am very happy that you scored so well with this. with photos like these either you do excellent or you fail miserably. she is a beautiful model, and you have a great setup. i would love to try something like this someday, i just have the small issue of all my freinds/potental models are under 18(me too) so i dont know if i could get away with it. anywas, great job, and dont listen to all the crap im guessing you're getting from people about it. |

Very well done image. I imagine you will get some flack from the more conservative in the crowd. This image really works, regardless of the subject. I like texture of the sheets, and how they fade to white, even the border where it makes room for her foot at the bottom, is a nice touch. 10 |

There seems to be a theme here... Though she is gorgeous, I find the lighting oddly flat. |

I have so many one-liners for this, I can't choose, so I'll just hit you with them all:
- To quote Mr Potato Head from Toy Story II, "I'm a married spud, I'm a married spud".
- Somebody get the freaking mistletoe!
- Part of me says 10, and part of me says 7... I compromised and voted 10.
Seriously, though, it's a great shot - nice lighting and color balance, and humorously meets the challenge. I wish you luck! |

I was going to say "hats off to you" but that would mean taking even more clothes off!
Nice image, well shot, has a certain charm. |

A beautiful model and you photographered her very well. The white background is perfect for this type of image.
The ribbon draped around her really works well - but the bow does not work for me at all - it what my eye is first drawn to. This is a shame as I think it gives the image a more overt sexual feeling than the sensual feeling the rest of the image gives. I wonder if a slightly different wrapping of the ribbon so that you could cover her with that instead of the bow could have worked a bit better. |

Very well done. Between this and the two you posted earlier, I think you chose the best for the contest. You avoided blowing out the white background, and the model isn't that bad either.
Any more from the series? ;) |

lighting is pretty strong and that bow is dangerously close to presenting a little too much but I really do like the arrangement of the ribbon, her pose, and how the sheets blend in so well. Good job. |
