An emotive title, and not very Ansel Adams, i know, but it seemed to fit.

Its a shot taken from a ridge in the Theban hills on the West Bank of Luxor Egypt, overlooking the Nile. If i turned my camera around to the West i'd be looking down on the Valley of the Kings.

Really enjoyed this challenge and found it very, well, challenging! I don't have much experience with B&W PP and i spent hours on this trying to get it how i wanted. There wasn't a great sky, very clear blue but quite hazy lower down, and i found it really hard to combine the two. Got somewhere towards what i wanted in the end and i'm pretty pleased with the result.

i love the juxtaposition of the ancient landscape and modern day man-made fence. They're both in decay.
The processing is lovely as is the composition.

I like the feel of complete desolation. Quite the panorama of hopeless nothingness. Well done.

Love the black on white on this one and how the fence seems to lead you around it and on into the distance.

Surreal, almost creepy. Great choice for a non color. Guessing would not have this effect at all if it was color.

wow....simply...wow
Cant help but wish I knew the fences story and the stories it could tell. How many sun sets and rises over that INCREDIBLE landscape out before it. A tease just out of my view that keeps me looking for more.
I like the choice in framing and the tonal range.
I would have tried to keep it a little softer...maybe impossible without losing detail in the valley below?
!Magnifico!

Excellent image. I scored it well. However, the manmade stuff here is one of the things AA used his environmental photograph to campaign against. I didn't mark down your score because of it, but it's one of the things which would be highly offensive to AA during the time of his landscape work.

What an incredible place! Great shot. I love the soft misty light on the distant horizon, which contrasts nicely with the harsh light on the foreground. Great content, textures, balance.
