 OMG, Thanks!! A ribbon for a portrait!!! This has been a dream of mine and now it’s come true.
Thanks also for the comments, the fav. and great score.

Some mentioned they'd like to hear the story behind the face, so here goes.
I was in town with my husband to pick up my new running shoes. Had my camera with me and, just about 3 yards away from the sports shop, I saw a group of people standing talking. I was immediately mesmerized by one of the older men in the group because of his wonderful face and eyes. I even plucked up the courage to go over to him and ask if I could take a photo. He was charming and said yes straight away.
At that time I didn’t intend to enter the Grunge challenge but, when I got home and checked the image, it seemed to be perfect for it.
The strange thing was, his wife said they were only in our town for a visit and would be leaving in a few minutes, so I was very lucky to have met him at all.
The score started off way low, around 5.2. At 11 votes it was 5.6. By the time I got home from work in the evening it had rose to 6.1, so at least it was going in the right direction ;-) By the middle of the week it was 6.5 and in the last couple of days went to 6.7.
I went out of my “comfort zone” with this shot so I’m VERY pleased it did so well.

Irene this is an amazing character shot, your processing skills bring out the capture to the fullest. Not only did you get out of your comfort zone but you got out of it and then up close and personal with this man, a commendable feat. I wish i did that kind of stuff.

This is utterly superb. His face is lit brilliantly, and I love how you captured the different textures of mud/hair/wrinkles to perfection. I bet he has a story or two to tell too.
