This is a crop of an unidentified species of fungi that I found while looking for subject for this challenge. I have submitted several of the originals to the State University for assistance in identification. The unusual aspect of these particular fungi is that it was found to be unattached to any substrate whatsoever!

I'm not quite sure what this is. It certainly seems to be macro, but it's out of focus. It doesn't seem insightful or particularly interesting, but it does seem a bit on the gross side. 1 wingy

Not a big fan of the colour, but one does what one can.

Well it sure doesn't look very appetizing! Very good closeup. Gotta find out what it is. Good job> Grayce

Did you leave the mushroom in it's cellophane packet? If it hadn't then this could have been really good. I like the way it resembles a brain but the shiny highlights and blurry bits just make it look a mess.

Ew. Definately an unknown species to me. Looks almost more like a clam than a mushroom. A good angle and the framing/cropping is nice. I like how the entire subject fills the frame. The lighting seems to be giving is a blue tint, unless of course it is that way naturally. I think you did a good job avoiding harsh shadows. An interesting shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

I'm not sure I want to know what this is....

Is this an oyster? I think I can see his private parts. Ha ha! Jacko.

Ughhh..What is that! Sure wouldn;t hang it on my wall, but I guess we are looking at technical aspects as well, lol. Nice focus and clarity, interesting subject...

I'm not sure what this is, exactly, but I don't think I want one! :)
11/11/2002 01:03:00 PM
I don't think I even want to know what this is. But whatever it is, you definitely got up close!
11/11/2002 12:21:00 PM
ugh, sorry, but this looks gross. but maybe that's what you were going for.
challenge -- met i guess, even though i see nothing that provides me with a sense of scale.
technical -- the picture looks a little fuzzy and you have lots of reflections that are a little distracting.
composition -- two things fighting for attention the most are the red veins at the bottom and the shiny thing at the top. overall, i think you are missing an area of focus.
