Sunset shots usually strike me as being a bit cliche, but I really like this shot a lot! I love the reflection, and the positioning of the gulls. I'm not sure if I like this more or less with the boat in the background, but this is still a 10 in my book :)

Absolutely beautiful shot! Love the orange tone of the shot. Natural or was it manipulated? Either way, well done. My choice for 1st.

Greater DOF might have been better, in my opinion... --7

Great shot of the gulls at sunset. The focus and details are very good of the wet sand but lacking somewhat on the gulls themselves. I think the use of a flash would help bring those details out better. Cropping is also excellent. I would have liked to see the boat cloned out. 7

Pwetty! Very nice composition. I have some bird shots similar--but not as good. You'll have to teach me! 10

Nothing beats a gorgeous sunset on the beach. The birds' silhouettes are wonderful as are the shadows and textures in the sand. The only thing I'd like to do is move the sun out of the center. Actually, I just moved it on the screen so the top is just below the actual sun - and it works very well that way. Overall - it's still a very strong contender, but in this challenge with so MANY great ones, it's going to be tough to get to the top.

I really like this: the ripples lead to the gulls, the fierce ocean and then the tranquility of the setting sun. The silhouettes of the gulls and even the boat are awesome too.

I like the silhouettes. To give a more relaxed feeling to the shot, I think a slow shutter to blur the waves a bit would be nice.

The thing I appreciate most about this picture is that it's just a great photo, regardless of the challenge. The liquidy orange color on that sand is amazing. Great shot!

Wow, very nice!!! My favourite so far. I would like to see a landscape version instead of a portrait version. Might not have been possible because of the restriction on "3". I'm guessing there were more birds around. Right? 9
