This just missed being an incredible (10) photo. But too sharp. And it calls out for shadow recovery, possibly via HDR. |

This picture came to me as one of the last ones. There is too much of sky for my liking, especially, that there is nothing interesting in the sky - no clouds, no colors - just plain area of blue. I would prefer to see more of the dwelling, as it is an excellent subject for this challenge. Fresh idea and very DMC. I like the detail and deep DOF. Good luck :) 7. |

Tough lighting - from dark in the canyon to the last rays of sunlight over lighting the trees on the top. Yet it is the same lighting that is absolutely gorgeous on the adobe buildings. I would suggest a much tighter crop on this - left side to just right of foreground rock; right to just left of 3rd large rock cropping, and top down to just above the rim rocks. I think that would leave enough of the shot to communicate cliff dwellings and remove a lot of distracting elements. Your shot has a lot of "bonus"es - the moon, the golden trees, the very nice blue sky, the line of the canyon leading back, to the left, and behind. IMO, none of these are strong enough to add to the shot. Instead the temptation is to include them, which dilutes the attention focal point of the picture. |

This is one of my favorites. I think your photo matches the topic perfectly. You captured this at the PERFECT time. The sunlight on the trees above the dwellings makes them look like the yellow of aspens in the fall. |

This is beautiful! I think it would benefit from a 16:10 landscape crop. |

Looks like Mesa Verde but I've never seen it from this angle. Truly a hidden treasure! Your perspective and excellent detail make this a memorable image. |

Definately DMC. Well spotted. Personally I would prefer sunlight on the subject, but I realise you might have lost the moon....... |

This one works on several levels, not just a pretty landscape like some of the others, the inclusion of Mesa Verde (or somewhere else nearby?) presents a strong tie to the challenge topic. 8. |
