I hope the several TENs and NINEs I gave in this challenge do not hurt my ranking?

The score has exceeded 7.4 at 154 votes, so I am thinking I just may get to be in the top three; and I have even surpassed my PB of the photo “Divine Delight” which was a spur of the moment and a spontaneous lucky shot,; while this one is a well planed and timed HDR photo that I drove for to Dana Wild Reserve about 250 km southwest of Amman where I live.

I hope it stays this way or improves :) Also a friend of mine was taking my picture while I was photographing

' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/50000-54999/54033/120/Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_836129.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/50000-54999/54033/120/Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_836129.jpg', '/') + 1) . '

But DPC will still need the originals I guess!

And to use a cliche: "It has been a long week"

[Nov. 29th, 2009 11:06:46 PM]

The eleventh hour, and it is 6 AM here in Jordan, leaving now for my daily 16 km fast walk hopefully by the time I come back I will see the photo in the top 3; InshAllah

Wow. I just ran across this shot. Excellent retainment of shadows etc... I just got a 10-22mm lens, so this is quite inspiring!

I own a 450d as well and I am seriously stunned that this image was created using a 450d!! I am glad I own one after seeing this. What a tremendous motivation to keep going and keep learning to shoot! Awesome job!!! I would love to see the originals...

The clarity! The DoF! The sunset! The colours! The...um...border?

Love this. 10 from me, even with the overbearing border.

Superb and eye catching composition. Lovely light, color and detail. 10
Aha.....I worked out that this is your entry Highnooner. I recognize the terrain as being very similar to other images in your portfolio.

I'm not a big fan of your heavy black frame. The rest is amazing.

I am not sure about the frame but picture is really nice

I really like how the sun plays across the image and the rays are really nice. I am not so enthralled with the black bars told and bottom.

I'd bet you are getting lots of comments on your border. My own opinion is that it is too thick and distracting, but the picture is great. Good luck. (not voting)

This reminds me of the stark landscape of where I live. An excellent photo - the large border enhances the wide field view. Love it: 10

The black boxes really take away from this otherwise fabulous image. (not voting)

I don't know about the thick borders, for it narrows the image. And in this challenge, I think the wider the photo is the better it becomes. Without the border, it's a very decent photo.

beautiful! wonderful colors, great comp. Border is a tad overdone, IMO.
All in all a great job - 8 -

Taking no chances on the 800 pixel thing? ;-)
Beautifully detailed image with all things in the right places and (other than the heavy black borders) nothing there that shouldn't be there.
I'm guessing that when the competition is over the sky won't be the only thing that's blue.

Stunning... The wonderful tones and detail are amazing. Simply stunning. Still on the fence about the thick black border, but I can't give you anything but a 10.

This is very good. The sun is well handled. The blown highlights do not over power the scene. Good stuff. (no vote)

11/23/2009 01:30:07 AM
would have given this a 9, but the border hurts this image
  Photographer found comment helpful.
11/23/2009 12:21:18 AM
This is nothing less than stunning. My only suggestion would be to reduce the borders (top and bottom) by half. Nothing to knock points off for IMHO. Wonderful leading line into the sun through the canyon. The tones complete this shot, brilliant work.
