12th is close enough for me... I'm looking for feedback moreso than scores. This week's feedback confirms my ideas that I need to make my photos more appealing to the subjective voter... |

Hey John, I'm surprised this did not finish in the top 10. Very good shot! Keep up the great work. |

Thanks for all the comments and your votes on this photo. This is an Okuma Vertical Drill. I only had one person comment that the drill may not be moving so I'm happy with that. The drill was rotating at 450 rpms and if you look, you can see that coolant is swirling and slinging from the drill. I never expected to finish this high because of all the 'subjective' whining in the forums.... Thanks! |

I think you would have placed higher if more people understood the subject. I did and I definately appreciate how well you stopped the action. Those machines run very fast. If you are ever in my area I'll bet my company would love some photos like this for our brochure and webpage. |

Boring can be interpreted more than one way. Bad choice for name of picture. An interesting shot but the observer needs to have knowledge of the machine word to appreciate it. Good stopping of motion both in the coolant and the drill bit. I don't see any chips so the drill might not be actually turning so then it would just be a picture of stopped coolant. |

Don't know what it is, but you could have left out the lower half of this photo and had a winner. Its beautiful and you did an excellent job of capturing. Too bad about the bottom. |

Nice variation on the water theme ... plus having the drill bit ... thumbs up! |

Great image, very busy, nice contrast of colors (silver/gold). Work on your titles, k? |

This is a really neat image. I can't tell what this is being poured on and the color of the liquid looks cool. I'm not giving you a higher rating than 6 because I'm saving those for the more original images that do not use liquid. |

Hardly boring. {g} Better without the XXX in the LRHC. |

The different directions and colours of the liquid help add the contrast needed against the (rather bright) metal. |

Good "stoppage." I like the way the colors work in this picture. |

Tokk me a while to figure out what this was until I looked at the title again. You definitely stopped the motion. Seems very clinical. Needs something to make it more appealing as a product photograph. Maybe a different viewing angle? |

Actually, I have to say this is not so boring! (Yes, I do get it). I think this is the best of the 'liquid' shots. Good composition, interesing subject, busy, very clear. I like! |

Not boring at all... (yes I did get it) Good shot, lots of action and motion. Depth of field used to good effect to blur the background - seems slightly titled/ at an angle though - maybe have been better really straight on to the side. |

This is honestly one of my favorite pictures this week. The stop action is awesome. The mixture of color is wonderful. I wish I could find something to complain about but I can't. |

smack my head and call me silly, but I'm struggling to work out what's going on in this picture. |
