I was at the 12 apostles for sunset, and there were thousands of tourists making proper photo taking impossible.. i decided to return after sundown with my tripod to find an empty viewing platform and a beautiful night sky.

Greetings from the Critique Club.
Hello Dave, I̢۪m Alan.

As we can see by your score, and that red thing attached to this photo, it was well received, and the placement, well deserved. The question, could it have been better, maybe a blue. In my opinion the only thing I see that could be a issue is your rocks are a bit soft. Some fixes could include detail enhancement, like Topaz Detail, somewhat in question by SC in basic, and I advise pre-review 2-3 days in advance of submission. Another option that is legal in Basic is Adamus sharpening, a process where first the image is resized twice the final image size (DPC it̢۪s 800 times 2= 1600) sharpen 2-3 times to a point just over sharpened, then resize to finished size of 800 (widest) and save for the web. It works, without creating halos.
Congrats on the ribbon.
Alan

Excellent image. Considered heading down there when I saw this challenge announced... if only I had the time... though I doubt I'd have taken an image anywhere nearly as good as you've got here. Congrats on your first ribbon, new PB and first 7.0 to boot... WOW!

Wow, that has to get a ribbon, I went there last year, stunning in real life, you captured this so well, I think it would have to be the best photo I've ever seen of the 12 Apostles and I've seen plenty indeed. Love all the shadows on the edge of the water and surrounding the rocks, breathtaking.
02/22/2010 10:56:39 AM

Magical light and the cliffs are beautiful but the water is a little too smooth for me. Maybe one pass too many of de-noise or some such filter? Over all it's a nice shot.
02/19/2010 04:24:23 PM
Beautiful...10!
