 This will either do really well, or really bad. I think it meets the challenge quite well, so I dont care.

This is one of the 2 main staircases at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad, Iraq.

Thanks for all your comments. This started out with 20 votes as a 5.3 so I am very happy with how it did. Melethia, as always, you are spot on in guessing its location.

The editing:
Out of the camera, the lighting was pretty well balanced. I am constantly amazed on the dynamic range of the 5d MarkII. However, I did run this through PhotoMatix to give it more of a 3d effect -something I do in probably too many of my pictures. Beyond that I did a brightness/contrast and curves to try and make the white-balance correct (something thats impossible on my uncalibrated laptop monitor)

Congrats - this did very well! I'd love to know how you got the light to balance so well. Nicely done! (And having a fisheye certainly made for a much nicer view, too.)

This is nice shot. However, i have to say that this overall look of this image does not really say "parallel lines" to me. Theres more curvature going on if anything. I know there ARE parallel lines. But parallel doesn't come to mind when seeing this.
