this photo tells a great story--reminds me of the eternal construction on interstate 40 between asheville and charlotte nc, when i was a kid. the composition is wonderful, i love the leading lines of the cones and the street lights fading into the distance. you framed it well. i also really like the fact that it is such a gloomy day because not only does it make the traffic situation seem more dreary, it also makes the warning sign and cones more prominent. i read the photographers comments, so i know that it was taken from a moving car, which explains the sight grain and the slight blur on the cones. neither of those things bother me tho; the fact that this photo was taken from the car really gives one the feeling of standing in the middle of all that mess! technically, this shot is fine, especially considering you were moving at the time. the DOF is nice and the grain i mostly contribute to the car movement, although, it may also be from the fact that your iso was set so high, i personally never go above 100--it seems to bring the picture quality way down. considering the overcast day, maybe you could have lowered your shutter speed to compensate for the iso? im only guessing, just a thought! ;) all in all, i really like this photo, it gives me that "claustrophobic, stuck in traffic in a really narrow lane" feel! very nice work!

Nice photo! I like the composition and the colouring. I guess you desaturated some colours and only left blue and red? I like that. It makes the foreground your subject and the cars a nice and noon-distracting background. Maybe a bit too much grain but I think that doesn't matter for photos in newspapers ;-) -stephan

Nice point of view, it looks like a news shot. It seems really grainy though. DPz

Probably snagged while in the car, on the move. Good job. Graininess adds here.

There's something strange about the coloring. Photo needs focus - maybe zoom out a little. Looks like rush hour gridlock. PTL5

Construction on the main freeway.... No news here :)

nice. way to not have cars half in half off the rectangle. looks to me like the sharpest part are the roadway doodads in the lower left, when i think the cones want to be the sharpest objects involved. eight for you.

The picture is grainy to me (maybe cropped from a larger one?), and for some reason, it seems off-balance. Maybe if the blue sign was pointing into the frame somehow. I like the pattern that the pylons set up. The orange white is very attention grabbing. karmat

Nicely done... The diagonal lines are exceptionally strong... One small nitpick, I feel there's a tad too much of the sky here... But that's just me :) ~ MyQyl ~

Was this taken in Michigan? lol. Our roads are ALWAYS like this. It's horrible. I like the angle and framing/cropping that you chose here. Looks like color on black and white. Interesting. The focus is ok, kind of grainy though for my tastes. Overall a worthy journalism shot. ~Heather~

Bit grainy. conveys the message well. Is this the M6?

Nice angle, but the picture is a little too grainy.

Good composition.

Good job telling a story with your image. IT is lacking some sharpness and could be imprved with a little sharpening. But still good! adchet@waldonet.net.mt

Neat shot, good perspective view, good colors. Not real crisp, but job well done. Justine.

Clarity and depth need a little fine tuning, but a very good photo.
