Ok this is my first try at an in depth critique so don't know anything too personal or if I miss something cause I'm learning and I figure I'll learn things from helping out with the critique club. This was one of my favorite shots of the week.
COMPOSITION - I like the angle where you took this shot. At first I thought you were tilting the camera a little, but the houses in the background are straight. It looks like the truck knocked the pole a little. The exposure seems just a tad bright. The reflections on the trucks roof are perfect for the situation. I would have liked to see it cropped a little less on the right to get more of the truck's back in the shot.
BACKGROUND- The background seems fine for the situation. It's not cluttered with onlookers and you've blocked a lot of it with how close you are to the truck which is good, cause I don't think it would have looked as good if the background had cars and was messy.
CAMERA WORK- Focus and sharpness are good. The DOF is good, I thought what it would have looked like with a bigger aperature, but then I thought that the background is fine.
Digital Processing- It is fine. There are a few small artifacts or jaggies(whatever they are) around the grass in the shadow and the lines in the truck bed are a little jaggy. But they are just small things.
My Opinion- As I said that this was one of my favorite shots. It fit the theme perfectly, and it was very powerful. The message of your title was great too. Thanks for sharing this shot was great! |

Great job finding an exciting subject. I'm not sure I like your choice of angle/framing, though. |

Try this as B&W. I think it will have more impact. |

Good cmposition with good execution. Good subject, cropped a little tight. Seems to need darking just a little maybe, the building in the background appear somewhat faded out. Still a really good photo and title. PTL9 |

Nice clear shot but it's a little too tightly cropped for me. |

wow, you can see a fire truck reflected in the roof, cool. how did the authorities or participants in the accident feel about you taking pictures? |

I hope this wasn't a setup shot! LOL! Way to be at the right plast at the right time. The reflection of the fire engine in the roof of the truck is pretty powerful imagery as well, although it would probably be overlooked in a newspaper or magazine shot. Great job! muckpond |

Or: Are you really safer in a SUV? |

No it doesn't! A good photo, worthy of a newspaper. For an artier shot I would crop so that just the bonnet and windscreen were showing - but I don't think that would fit the challenge as well. |

I looked for this shot all week. Great capture. You got this at a good angle and your framing/cropping are good as well. focus is nice, and the lighting conditions were also good. A great photo! ~Heather~ |

I think having more of the environment around the truck would make it stand out more. |

I hope you didn't cause this accident :) Nice job of capturing something that could have indeed landed in a newspaper -- excellent job of meeting the challenge! I also like the slight reflection of the firetruck in the roof. -8 alansfreed |

Okay.....right place at the right time. Nice job although I think the perspective could of been improved a bit. Still it's clean, clear, good color, light. Justine |

Great shot, incredible detail, the title says it all !! |

Well done. Might have been useful to have the whole bed of the truck in the shot. |

Yikes! Hope you didn't crash that truck just for this picture. Good but could use a human aspect, a fireman, or a policeman, or a crying person or something. Good try! |
