Had some trouble with my first entry, even the title was wrong.

She and her sister Chris are most of the time outside these days. It's just too hot. So I had to make this photo in my garden and she wasn't an easy model.

Here's my first entry:

I am extraordinarily confused - I would swear this cat is mine and is called Bracken! A super portrait!

Now having found the original Chris, I think this is a superb, well thought out take on that photo and I'm bumping the score to an 8.

Nice shot to recreate. The background seems a little distracting. The original had a great bokeh and good detail on the eyes.

I like the DOF but the lighting on his face seems off.

I think you missed the focus on the face. It's great on the coat below the head. Would like to see all in focus. Cat's are hard to capture. They move too quick and you need a fast shutter speed with good light. Can tell he was licking his lips which may have caused the OOF.

a bit more clarity/sharpness in the face/head of the cat, it just seems a bit soft to me
