Interesting to consider freedom. We will declare war and kill to protect it. Yet, most of us willingly forego some of our freedom of association, in favour of settling down and raising a family. At least in principle we do this. In practice, we occasionally succumb to the temptation to enjoy a taste of that freedom again.

This was shot in the living room. Natural light, supplemented by a bounced flash. Shot with a timer - I am the male model. The female model is my ever supporting wife, who not only agreed to pose for this dubious scene, but originally came up with the idea of associating Freedom with Marriage.

Post-processed in photoshop: levels, colour cast, some hotspots burned, minor blemishes and a fold on her dress cloned out, unsharp mask, resizing, unsharp mask again.

Is she taking her ring off too? I wish she was in focus. Nice composition, and it is a sad commentary on marriage in America.

Very clever idea. I just hope he can't get the ring off. Cheaters never prosper. lol Great job!

To me this speaks more of cheating than of freedom. It's sad that marriage feels like such a prison to some that pretending they are single in order to live the single life is considered to be "freedom". Anyway, nicely conveyed storyline and I like that you've cropped out her face to retain the feeling of anonymity. 7

Great idea and execution. The DOF and focus on the hands really emphasizes the subject.
