8th June ---

It's so great to get a ribbon in a free study! I was so close to get a 7 and to get a red, but I must be happy like this. I studied a lot to get this image and I can say I almost bought my new camera to do it. I studied the place, the position of the moon, the composition and the settings of my camera before going there (it's about 100kms from where I live). The structure is used by fishermen and we have a lot of them in my region. It's name is Trabocco and there are also in Molise and Puglia (where they are called Trabucco).
I never tried such a long shot so I hoped first of all that the sensor of the D7000 could resist ^_^

I wanna thank everyone who voted this image and for the great comments I received. This is my second, and I hope not last one, ribbon. But mostly I'm happy to learn so many things here in DPChallenge ;)

Well done! The choice of lens angle and point of view combined to make the most of the ramp or extension of the long dock, where it goes out into the sky. With the star trails it makes a grabber of an image. Your attention to all the elements in this shot shows in the result, and the ribbon.
The D7000 is an impressive camera too. Congrats on the ribbon, and on the new hardware.
If you are just out shooting JPG, try a night shot using "incandescent" or "Tungsten" white balance, and the sky will be a lovely blue. When shooting RAW, it can be done in processing. The orange in this one is great for the effect that it's at the "End of the World".

What's interesting about this is the way the structure seems to follow the path of the stars. This has wonderful radial energy. The orange is beautiful.

WOW. This is something I hope to try one day, and if mine turns out half as good this I'll be happy. Top 10 finisher without a doubt.
