This was shot a week before my boy turned 9. We have the picture of him and me in shadows on our mantle which was taken 4 years ago. I might need to replace it. I do love this picture. He is growing up so fast. Maybe someday he will take a similar one of him and his boy.

Single light off an umbrella.

Even before reading your comment, I was thinking - Wow! That boy is growing up! Guess there should be a visual difference between 5 and 9...
Love the lighting, your son's youth and innocence, and the intensity of your look.

"Maybe someday he will take a similar one of him and his boy." What a wonderful set of words - as moving as the image, itself! Btw, don't replace the old picture with this one. Mat and frame them together!

Lovely portrait Tim. I love the photographic feel, as well as, a more natural presentation, particularly the eyes.

Why is it that folks who recognize you in a Self-Portrait challenge don't vote?

It's not like you have a choice of faces! LOL!!

Congrats on your win, Tim!

I like the lighting. I'd like to see a version with the top of your head not cropped as much, a version with your entire head in the frame. Other than that, nice portrait.

Serious portrait, but what might have been fun would have been to paint a beard on Aiden's face with a burnt cork... ;-Þ

The only possible knock is the lack of a back light to keep the young man's head from falling into darkness. Everything else is top notch from the expressions and placement in the frame, to the slight emphasis on the lad bu careful (or lucky) use of light falloff. Great work, ought to ribbon.
