Flowers do not always resonate with DPC voters; however, this one is very special to me, so I feel good about it no matter the score. This is from a Manolia tree in my son's front yard (humongous tree). He picked it and brought it inside on one of our last visit to see him and his wife at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. He is now in Afganistan flying Blackhawk's on Medivac missions. So I think of him every time I look at this image and remember how special he is.

Not much processing; natural light from a window covered with a sheer curtain. Mostly darkened the background and toned down the highlights on the leaves.

i loved this photo from the beginning. being from the south i'm naturally drawn to the flower. it's stunning. i'd have it on my wall. it says all things southern to me. i read your post that your son picked it for you. i love it even more now.

makes me miss the magnolia tree in the backyard of a house i lived in 20 years ago.

Dove like petals bloom
in nests of evergreen leaves
Hatched in the garden,
the ambrosia scent is pure delight.

The white hue of the magnolia is pure and elegant. It just pops visually from the dark backdrop and with gorgeous detail!
