Seriously, in previous shots I did see a funny slightly greyish thing hanging down from the tuft of feather below where the beak is located. Didn't take long to realize it was the last of a mouse going into a snowy owl tummy!
I made a point of including the phone pole so nobody could say it was a tame pet owl. It isn't. It's a female or a juvenile, not sure. Only the males go all white, which I didn't know before.
Camera on tripod, TC used, also mirror lockup and remote shutter.

I know you can't DO anything about the POV if he's on a 10" pole :) It's just an observation and I have the same dilemma as you did when submitting. Show the pole or don't show it and take a beating from the "It's a bird park shot" if showing a portrait only. 7 from me :) |

I've seen a lot of snowy owl photos this winter with their coming so far south. This is one of the better ones. I like that he's got his mouth open. |

I've never seen such a nearsighted owl! And with a weird hairdo! |

Lots! Send him over :) Lovely shot, well timed. Good definition and sharpness. Pity about the low POV. |

Holy smokes. Awesome capture, even though the sky looks a bit artificial. Great title. |
