There was a book cover I saw -- of course that I cannot find now -- about OCD, and the typography was spelled out using hundreds of needles for each letter. This reminds me of that.

I think this is one that would work well with focus stacking to make everything appear in focus. I think the background should be white, not black. The butter is a bit on the bright side, some of the details are getting washed.

this cutting board would be a good background for your BBQ shot.

I don't mind the burnt bits. I noticed the softness right away, and also a less-than-desirable bun that reminds me of a fast food restaurant bun. The slaw seems to have lost quite a bit of color as well. I feel the color correction in this one tends to be a little on on the warm side. Would a more natural background do the food more justice? -- wooden picnic table, BBQ grill, sauce condiments containers?

Little changes here, as it's a great shot as is. Be careful about cropping the gravy out. a little bit more breathing room on the bottom would be nice.

Coming back to this, I think I have to agree with OldBimmer, it's not the scene that I found to be distracting, I kind of like the environment, it's that the border is encroaching on the space, especially with how cropped the scene is already. -- and I still like the pose, and the smidge of detail visible.
