Shrimp w/ Cocktail Sauceby LydiaComment: Anyone want to tell me (brutal honesty is fine with me!) what's wrong with my entry?
Lighting is a mess. The shrimp look like they were cut and put into this scene without regard of keeping continuity with the lighting of the surroundings; same with the flamingos. Shadows are missing. The flamingo standing on the plate should have a shadow that points to the lower left part of the image. You can see the shadow from the leg of the dresser cast by the window present in the scene.
From your comments: Then, I put them in the scene, but there was no "story".
WHY were they there?
Even with the shrimp, there's no story. It doesn't make sense. Message edited by author 2019-08-23 14:27:06. |

Actually, I'm just seeing if I can still post comments since my account has been cancelled. |

The Secretby njsabsComment: Nice work Jen.
I would have loved a little more brightness on the face. Right now it all kind of blends in together, but I'll forgive that considering it's minimal. |

Doomsday Bookby Alex_PetriniComment: And you win.
If it wasn't for the bokeh on your arm, there'd be now way to differentiate if this was foreground or background bokeh, and I would have slammed this entry.
Create a photo in which bokeh is effectively used, but in the FOREGROUND of the image. Most entries completely fail the first part of description. It's only due to that fact am I giving this a ten.
Have a good one Alex, looks like I'm getting the boot again. |

Trying to make a paper challenge interestingby NeatComment: Well, the title and post processing doesn't help.
I really dislike the use of glow. It looks completely unnatural on his face, especially the right cheek. It also makes the shirt have a weird sheen. The expression is comical, but not in a "ha-ha" funny way. It looks entirely contrived, which it obviously is, but I don't like it.
So yes, I think this deserved a two.
Since you sent me a PM thanking me for the vote, I gave 14 entries a score of two, so no, I'm not singling you out with low votes. |

protect and serveby PennyStreetComment: Excellent job on the composition.
If it wasn't for the extremely well positioned eye of the child, this would be a run of the mill photo that I wouldn't give two shits about. That perfect triangle formed from the three eyes is just too good not to reward.
Gave this a nine as there's one entry I like better. |

Birth Controlby jagarComment: Love this entry.
Unfortunately I don't think it'll ribbon, but it won't be from lack of effort on my part. |

First impressions go a long way. Right or wrong, they count for something.

It's a fantastic image Lev. I didn't have you pegged as blue, but you were in my top three. Looking through Winogrand's work, this definitely fit his style. |
