After I figured out what was going on, I realized that's what it was. The tutu gives it away.
And I lied, I had three above yours; hanneke, markwiley, and Paul. Yours was my sole eight for the challenge. |

WTF does that even mean?
I gave this an eight. I even requested it gets validated. Couldn't figure out how you got the texture on the upper 70% of the image. I think it's an amazing photo. Only thought two others were better, and they finished no where near yours. Message edited by author 2014-02-03 14:23:19. |

Some things have changedby NeatComment: Changing my comment a little.
I voted this a one.
The superimposition of your adult face being marred and hidden from your childhood hair adds no value. It obscures the vast majority of your face and makes it hard to see your expression.
The description explicitly states: this week, go back in time and visit your childhood self, or perhaps have them warped into a future scene with you! The entries I was generous with attempted to insert themselves into a scene, which was the inspiration for this challenge. If there's a scene present, I'm definitely missing it.
Just wanted to add that yours isn't the only image that I think missed the mark in this regard. It was just after seeing the thread you started, I had to comment. I think complaining about voters is detrimental to the overall site. People should be allowed to vote how they see fit without having people constantly complain about their voters. At least I'm trying to explain why I voted the way I did. |

1980 / 2014by bvyComment: It doesn't fit what the inspiration for the challenge had in mind, but it's too clever to not reward it with a decent vote. Giving this a nine. |

My Personal 9/11by arondeeComment: Not a fan of the title.
I always give one ten in every challenge. This was one of the easiest choices I've made in this regard for any challenge. In my opinion, there isn't another photo that comes close to the impact this one is presenting. I might not give any photo a nine because I believe this one is that much better than the rest.
It's one of the only entries where I want to ask follow up questions. I want to engage with the subjects of the photo. You want the photo that proceeds this one to come next. |

Spread your wingsby EnlightenedComment: If the owl was facing the camera this would be a contender. That slight bend of the head detracts from the image without a context explaining why.
I see the branch, but branches are boring. A scuttling mouse or something would have been an insane photo. |

Passing through Maradanaby aznymComment: The first guy sitting down needs to have his face brighter. The combo of both their expressions would make this stronger. |

Day 26 - The Inspired Oneby mrchhasComment: Awesome. Glad you liked it.
I think more focus is necessary only because you mentioned the jazz cover. Without having a reference context, it wouldn't have mattered. |

Holloway - Amnesiaby rooumComment: I always give at least one ten in every challenge, and this was the easy pick this time around. It's also the only I gave.
Not only is it original (unlike mine), it could easily be an album cover without hesitation. |
