Bee Sharpby dw_photoComment: I dont understand why the tilt and the desaturated background add to the image of the bee and the flower. Is it to emphasize the pointy leaves? Or make the blue of the flower stand out more? TO make it look dead? Windblown? |

Christmas in Seattleby cabaComment: The future is NOW - this feels so much like a scene in a futurisitc movie. Whatever your vantage point was, you did everything perfectly leaving me nothing else to say but...WOW. 10 |

Playing in the Leavesby vonautschComment: Sort of odd...like half a doll abandoned in the woods. Or a munchkin version of the Oz scarecrow. The happy face seems incongruous, the color not quite dead or alive. Disturbing, actually. |

Sunset Cruiseby dpdaveComment: Ahhhh - so close to perfect! It feels like you snapped the shutter seconds to early or too late. If the boat had been a little to the left I would see a gorgeous reflection of the sun on the water. If the boat had been a little to the right I would see no reflection, just the sun but the boat would be in between the two shores. So almost 10 is nine. |

Sun Siloetteby BethraComment: Oh dear - so many classic DPC no nos in this image, I'm afraid it isnt scoring well. Its the little details that can drag down an almost great picture. Remember that your picture is only as good as it;s weakest parts and thats what your score will reflect. Is the horizon straight? that is a fetish of mine because it is so easy to fix. Lens flare? I sort of like it but DPC usually doesn't. Does the extra "sun" right over his head that looks like a bubble ass to the picture? The silouette is marred by something that sticks out on the right, a hand? a keychain? Look at the left hand - something about the angle has turned it into a creepy claw. One more thing that might hurt this image is monitor-calibration-syndrome. It looks very dark on my monitor, barely any detail in the rocks or the person. If voters have an even darker monitor, they might find it too dark. |

Tranquilityby AndersComment: I like the zig zag of the diagonal lines here. I might have preferred the seashell (and it's area of sharp focus) to be at the end of the Z path. Centuries of art have shown that the human eye likes to look at something slightly off center, the rule of thirds might seem trite but it works, and I think it would have worked here. |

Hawaiian Bluesby ShannonLeeComment: Nothing seems very sharp. Where did the focus get lost? In the resizing for web? Slight camera shake? |

Winter Runby loriprophotoComment: White on white - That is really hard to do, snow is hard all by itself without adding a moving white horse. Remarkable control of the exposure. Perhaps it is the cold but the movement of the horse appears to be frozen mid stride like a statue. |

The windows of her soulby coley3Comment: I love everything but the title which is a stupid thing to complain about. The title implies that her eyes should be the focus of the picture? But I find her mouth to be equal to the eyes in impact and the ears close behind. The colors are wonderfully jarring, blue on the mouth which ought to be red, red on the eyes which ought to be blue. THe placement of the girl on the right when we usually see people on the left adds to the tension. The spikes of her hair try to lead ones gaze out into the empty white space but the face pulls you back so strongly that it is almost painful. Intense! |

Fogstarby lynnesiteComment: ANother 10! A study in power! So much movement in the sudden halt. Muted colors emphasize the strength. The turned away head is a perfect way to depersonalize the animal. Delicate mane and tail make a great contrast. |
