Dachshund On Alertby JenHallComment: Good sharpness in front of the eye, but the reflection in the eyeball is too over powering. |

Fernandoby timmiComment: Simple, sharp effective. A very nice shot. Perhaps a little more light on the hopper's flank - it seems a tad dark around the eye. Nice job. |

I'm Ready for my Closeup... by BobsterLobsterComment: Interesting. The 'flat' effect on the central areas of the flower petals looks like soft focus but I think you've used Neat Image or a similar tool to remove a lot of the noise. If so - it's removed some of the detail too. There's a also a fringe around the petals which suggests a bit too much sharpening. Having said that, I quite like the effect, even though it looks a bit unnatural. |

Searchingby MonaComment: Nice shot. Good composition and pleasant colours. Looks like the head could be a just a bit sharper, though. Difficult one to get the exposure right on, as the insect's head is much darker than the flower. |

Hawthorn Sheild Bugby A WeaverComment: I think this is a Forest Bug (Pentatoma rufipes), as Hawthorn Shield Bugs (Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale) are predominantly green. Nice shot, but shame you didn't catch him on a nice green leaf for contrast. Looks like good detail, but why not crop some of the 'empty' space to left and right and have the subject occupy more of the shot? |
