Backlit Under Cloudsby RebeccaComment: Comment from a member of your own commenting club :-)
This is a picture showing a stone in front of a hill far away.
Although it is a beautiful stone it is not something that makes you want to see it again. Maybe an animal or a person in front of it or on top of it would make a big different.
What is good?:
1. Good use of rule of thirds.
2. Leading lines make you look at all the picture.
3. Colours are good.
4. Focus is good.
5. Frame colour/darkness fits the picture well.
What could be better?:
1. The sky, like in many of my own pictures is blown, probably not because of wrong adjustments but just because it is like that when you take the picture.
2. Wait for a better day to take pictures :-)
Hope this helps!

The model is gorgious and you captured her very well.
What is good in the picture?:
1. Lovely colours, you must have edited in that way the other persons are in another colour space or something like that. Enough for my speculations on that but it fits the picture well.
2. Lighting on main subject mostly good.
3. Good focus and contrasts.
What IMO could be better?:
1. The cropping, crop about 6-10mm from the right side.
2. Frame is a bit big and makes again the black space in the right a bit to big.
3. Light on nose on main subject a bit harsh.
Other than that great and a well deserved Top 20 finish.
Congratulations! :-) Message edited by author 2006-05-10 20:26:04. |

Through a Glass Darklyby xianartComment: Comment from a member of your own commenting club :-)
I love this picture. I voted "9".
What is good in it?:
1. It is mystical. Lets the Viewer speculate on how it is possible to have reflections from the outside while taking picture out through the window.
2. This could also be a book cover for a story of a girl that has been abused in some way.
3. The colours are great.
4. The first comment you got on this picture: "To me it crosses the threshold from DP to Digital Art." For me Advanced editing is exacly that, Digital Art and it is great in that way.
5. Good haircut :-)
6. To make all the editing worth wile you show one window (without glass) almost without editing. Makes this picture work.
What could have been done better?:
1. Dunno
2. There is no nr. 2. Message edited by author 2006-05-10 20:25:41. |

E-71 wins again the World Championship of Windsurfby alexgarciaComment: Comment from a member of your own commenting club :-)
This is a lovely windsurf picture.
Plus:
1. Lovely colours
2. Good frame choise
3. Superb focus on the front boat.
Minus:
1. I would have preferred to balance the picture a bit by cropping differentely. Add more of the sky and cut a bit from the ocean.
For the rules of thirds, have a bit more ocean in the left side.
2. The horizon is horzontal but looks like it isn't because of different sizes of boats. Maybe in this case it would have been better to tilt it a tiny little bit. But then again maybe not :-)
Congratulations on your deserved "over 6" Message edited by author 2006-05-10 20:25:10. |

Snohomish Invitational GU-13 Finalsby margiemuComment: Comment from a member of your own commenting club :-)
Nice picture of girl socker but you could have made it better.
1. The title isn't catchy.
In this competition you could just as well made it up f.x.:
"Reds won the Golden Cup again" :-)
2. The two girls are a bit blurry, selective contrast would maybe have done it better. The third girl is ok.
3. The women in the back go into my nervs. Seeing people waching kid sport and at the same time not paying any attention make me somehow angry. The picture without them would have been much better.
4. The colours are not as strong as they could have been. I am no expert but I know there is a way to make them stronger in Advanced editing.
What is good in this picture is:
1. The girls are wery determent and you captured that well.
2. Cropping is good.
3. Good leading lines.
Hope I do not sound harsh. Message edited by author 2006-05-10 20:24:48. |

The Circus in townby DigiFotoBuddyComment: Comment from a member of your own commenting club :-)
A well deserved "over 6" score.
Plus:
1. This picture is in good focus
2. Lighting on the elephants skin is good
3. The "blue guys" in the back are well placed
Minus:
1. IMO it would be better to crop differently. Crop below the band playing or over the sign. Also show a bit more of the bottom. More likely you didnt get it all in the picture. So you should maybe had to take the picture portrature.
2. Lighting on the left elephant "blue sign" is a bit to harsh. You could have darkened it a bit.
3. The wire in the top right corner distracts and would have been nice to clone it away. Message edited by author 2006-05-10 20:24:21. |

Desperate Phone Callby talikfComment: This is great.
The only thing that bothers me is your interpratation of these words: "Be sure to title your submission the 3 words you came up with for the movie." |

Walking Aroundby Carpe DiemComment: This picture is not at all horrible.
IMO I would have cropped a bit from the bottom. Colours are nice and focus could be sharper but is ok.
I think that the main reason for you to score so low is because of the title not fitting the competition. This is not a catchy headline.
Better luck next time. :-) |

Lightning05by RgarciaComment: IMO You should crop the window poster out of the picture and a bit from the top. Other than that it is well done.
