Week 06 - Stargateby hajekaComment: I like the composition and the contrast but i find the brightness of the lower jaw a bit distracting. I wonder if knocking down some of the highlights would make it even better. |

Wk-4_B&W-Side-Challenge.jpgby twmaxComment: Very nice exposure I like the depth of the sky. I also find the converging line intriguing. I would normally be put-off by the lens distortion but I think it actually enhances this shot. Well done. |

_DSC2308-Nina-1-n.jpgby pawdrixComment: In my humble opinion there's nothing wrong with this light. Yes its subtle but you used it masterfully! I wouldn't have know you had less than the conditions you hoped for if you hadn't told us. There's just light enough to highlight her eyes and lips beautifully. You had the pretty model and it looks like you made the most of the space, time and light you had.
Very nice DOF and B&W conversion. Great shot overall! |

4.52 Coot and cobblesby MelethiaComment: Very nice Deb! Simple and natural composition. The B&W conversion is great but what I really like is the depth of field. I think its enhanced even more by the fact that the water is highlighted in the foreground and dark in the background.
I look forward to seeing more of your B&W work as the year progresses. |

4 - Wheeling Suspension Bridgeby BudComment: Nice capture of a bleak and dreary day. You've conveyed the mood very well.
The composition is very good but something is just very slightly off for me. I've had it up on my screen now for nearly a half hour as I write this and try to figure out what it is that I̢۪m missing.
My eye is fist drawn very nicely down the leading line to the far end of the bridge. Then it returns along the line of the bridge but it stalls looking for more at the top of the frame. It eventually comes down the abutment but stalls again in the darkness of the foreground. I think I would've liked to see the entire frame brought up slightly. Not much, only enough to direct the center line of the bridge to the corner of the frame. This would reduce the amount of darkness in the foreground, expose some more of the superstructure of the bridge and bring the far side of the river a bit more off the centerline of the frame.
This critique is nit-picking at most. The shot is quite nice as is!
BTWâ€Â¦ Thanks for starting the challenge

Soft Ambientby meyersComment: I think what I like most is this seems very natural and not forced at all. I think the lighting could have bee a bit softer but otherwise this is quite good. |
