What's Left Of Meby posthumousComment: Wow! This is awesome!! And I'm not saying that just 'cause you're Fearless Leader!!! I like the tone-mapping effect, I believe it's called. Or at least that's what I understand the pastelizing effect...what looks like antiquing. You do have good sky but I fear that the definition in the wall suffered though that may have been intentional. The whole dirty, gloomy look works really well with this old falling in house. I wonder why it didn't fare better except that if you look at it quickly, you cannot get the effect......it's possibly too subtle. |

Ms. New Bootyby MelethiaComment: Wrong spelling, wrong definition of that word, great picture, a

Filthy Habit - Still Quitingby KelliComment: Now that I know that you're someone I know and love.......STOP NOW.
That's it, stop now.....you'll feel better in three weeks and it keeps getting better. Your clothes won't stink, you'll be able to breathe and taste food.....for me, my voice changed immensely, and I sleep much better.
The picture's fine!....8>) |

She'll Be Grown Before You Know Itby PhotologistComment: Okay....I gotta suck it up on this one and tell you I gave it a 4 because with this title, it would have made more sense to have the little girl by herself. I think it's a very good pic......the wall helps make this a small, but powerful look that would have really worked for me had Mom not been in the pic. Mom's taking that quiet moment with her daughter, so I have to say that it misses the mark for me as a Procrastination entry. I have a wonderful twelve year old myself and I grab these moments whenever I can. Message edited by author 2007-01-17 16:20:45. |

Is DPC a quilting site?by JerseyGenieComment: Oh......I'm an idiot!!! I wondered what this was about......you didn't manage to convey to me that this was a quilt in progress, that said, I'm pretty dumb when it comes to a needle and thread. Decent picture, although it doesn't really speak to me. That would be because the subject material made me tune it out after I missed the title. I would have liked to see the basket/bin in the upper right hand area of the picture sharpened, but that's my opinion. Now that I understand, challenge met. |

I'd Rather Photograph It Than Mow Itby WildcardComment: I remember commenting on this during the challenge, so I thought I'd be able to dodge this one.....apparently not!
This is a good solid entry, a little humor and self-deprecation evoked by the title, terrific light, setting, crispness of detail and the right DOF IMHO. |

Sugar and Spiceby WildcardComment: I really don't have too much to say about this one other than it's a good rendition of a soft and pretty woman that's just all 'round nice.
It's a little hot around the highlights, but not offensively so and it rather induces a sunny feel to the shot.
Lovely smile......you definitely captured a good feeling with this. |

sweet dreamsby silverfoxxComment: Wow! You weren't kidding when you said you'd taken a departure from the norm. Can I deduct points for your not following your own successful system?....8>)
It's darkly funny, and it makes me chuckle nervously. This whole image and what it evokes is kind of Stephen King-esque......that's a good thing, I think he's really talented.
I like the minimal focus area.....it's so subtle I almost missed it and it relly adds to the mystery of the shot. This is a really different, edgy, evocative shot, Svetlana.....I like it. |

Child of Mischiefby KelliComment: VERY nice! I love the way you have captured the way his face just lights up with his smile! Great detail, crystal clear pic......good negative space behind and the light is really good. I like the dark color of the sweatshirt and the detail so crisp that the pattern of the material breaks up the smooth surfaces elsewhere. Nicely done! |

Waitingby TruegshtComment: First.....what strikes me in the negative. I'm pretty sure it's a hangup of mine, but with people, I hate face/head cropping, that's just subjective. Another thing, one that I do, is have a tendency to have blown out highlights......it's ever so slight in this.
What I do like.....this is a powerful, gripping emotive expression on this youngster's face making me wonder what the trouble or disenchantment may be. A very good capture and the detail is terrific.
I like the soulful look in the eyes.
EDIT: I keep looking at these after I comment and I see more. I particularly like the negative space behind the child. Message edited by author 2007-01-17 15:36:40. |
