Southwark (Week 8)by booboo_goonComment: Excellent work: not just in the capture of these structures and your processing, which I think is exemplary. But everything here is about security - almost, in the massive extent of it, about paranoia. I agree, though, that in such a rigid composition, a little careful straightening would benefit the shot's impact: I don't see that the slightly unsettling feel of non-square really aids your impact. |

holding what you cannot reachby posthumousComment: I like the unpretentiousness here, and the less obvious use of reflections - I prefer that to simply shooting reflections 'cos the challenge tells you to. It's like this picture only means something to you, and is the more valuable for it. |

Winter Light - WK07by DJWoodwardComment: Nice work. There's a strong sense of luminosity, and a strong sense of texture to it all. So much of poeple's black and white work devolves to grey, but this has a real sense of dynamic range. |

Reflections on Oppressionby jjsmomComment: I can't decide whether I think this is extraordinary, or whether I think this banal. One could get all philosophical and say that its very banality is profound. Ideas of melting into the background, of simplicity, of being very very apposite to our times. The mystery of that expression is the killer at the moment - that's what makes it. I'll go for the former, I think. And whoever challenged it's legitimacy needs their head examining. |

ocular reflexby shamerComment: Overly portentous title, perhaps: I'm never sure what really works, though. I like the subtlety of your use of reflections here, and the multiple meanings. Something of a cold fish, in the end, for my real taste, which is why this isn't quite my favourite of the bunch this time round. Not quite. |

The Water Horseby geoComment: Such a mad, irrepressible image. It would be unclear what exactly the reflections are in this image even with the most perfect explanation. I like it for its sheer weirdness; the more so in a challenge. |

Rivalsby Bruce_the_RobertComment: Good sense of composition - nice to have filled the top half of frame with something, rather than going with the temptation to isolate these two. It has something interesting to say about the structure of duck/goose, too, almost like an architectural exposition of three-quarter view and head-on. |

2UCOrangeby apashackComment: Compositionally sensible image - enough black to give us isolation, but still enough image to see. Light and its treatment seems brutal though - highlights a bit overdone perhaps? |
