Peaceby sfboatrightComment: Very nice use of shallow DOF but it seems to emphasize the rake tool vs the lines in the sand. Composition, color and lighting all seem fine. Border is creative and matches the photo well. |

power in the skyby DrewLongComment: Interesting composition and strong on the dark and gloomy feel. The trees/plants in the foreground are distracting and seem to detract from the overall feel and focal point which are the power lines. If you cropped the left side almost all the way to the second tower and then eliminated the plants, might score higher with me. Of course you'd have to do some cloning to get rid of the plants by the second tower. Nice start, though! |

Fire Laneby Rook3000Comment: Very interesting composition with the various types of lines. I also like the slight burning you did around the perimeter. The only flaw I see are the posts. They look a bit artificial to me. Perhaps a bit too much noise reduction? Otherwise, very welll done! 9 |

Urban Land Linesby jpochardComment: Love the vibrant colors here. The shadows cast by the telephone lines (I think) are a nice contrast to the horizontal lines of the wall. Overall, image seems a bit unfocused. Clear details of the wall and telephone booth seem to be lost. The top edge of the bricks appear to be tilted towards the left or counterclockwise. Maybe the wall isn't even or level. |

The Path Away from Gloryby mirdonamyComment: This is a great shot with people-factor. Using the top edge of the flowers, you can use that as a leading line to the trail and then follow that upwards. Although I'm a big fan of b/w photos, I feel that this could have been great either way. However, since it is b/w, it needs a bit more contrast, not much, to add more punch and depth. The sky could have been cropped a bit closer to the tops of the mountains to place emphasis on the rest of the frame. 7.5 rounded up to an 8. |

Meditationby BobsterLobsterComment: I love the composition of this a lot. The contradicting straight lines and right angles vs the curves of the female form are very interesting. Sort of like the yin and yang of architectural styles, total opposites yet both have their place and can both be aestheticlly pleasing. The only thing that bothers me is the green tint. I think this would have looked better as pure b/w or maybe even sepia but I'm not too keen on the "Matrix" style coloring. 8 |

Another beautiful day at workby mirdonamyComment: That's a great shot, Arie! Love the strong contrast and the way it looks desaturated. I wish there was some eyeball space to his right as he feels slightly confined within the frame and borderline too centered. Maybe there was extra stuff that was too distracting on that side (his right). Great job, otherwise! |

The Gatewayby mocabelaComment: I really like the angle you utilized in this shot. Well thought out and excecuted. Clouds are very detailed and add to the feel. Border has a heavy weight about it but seems appropriate for the most part. Two things really bother me, however: the light inside the building and the light splotch on the brick that seems to have been dodged a lot. The sliver of light bulb is distracting to overall darkness of the interior and screams for attention. The lighter colored brickwork is a different shade than the rest and just looks out of place. Excellent job otherwise. |

Sunshine Skyway Bridge over Tampa Bayby SailingduckComment: Perhaps if you had less city lights on the bottom and more details of the bridge might make this more appealing. The long exposure makes any light source seem to grow in size making it appear large and less detailed. Look at the fine lines of the bridge suspension and you'll see what I mean. Great job of keeping noise at a minimum! |
