Liberty And Justice by jmsetzlerComment by moondoggie: Echoing the many platitudes. A seriously excellent photo, and another very well-deserved win. And not only is it one of the highest scoring photos, it's probably the greatest margin of victory yet... not that those things matter. ;?) |

Liberty And Justice by jmsetzlerComment by UberFish: Hi, I'd like to explain my reasoning for giving this a low mark (I gave a 3, which I admit is a bit low). 1. Its not that original. A very similar shot of water on a leaf won a couple of weeks ago. One comment suggests that this technique was shown practical photography very recently. 2. Its not that technically difficult. You have complete control of the subject. Its a bit like painting by numbers, gives good results for a mimimum of effort. 3. It panders to patriotism, without actually saying anything about it. If the flag was in a patriotic context (parade, cemetary, etc) then thats OK, but I would really have prefered to be able to judge this without having to consider whether the use of the flag was cynical or not (BTW, I am British). |
