Maybe use a reflector (even a couple of properly positioned pieces of paper or white cardboard) to illuminate the cute face.

How about something interesting on the screen, perhaps instructions on how to use the mouse, e.g., how to position it -- yes, the wheel side looks more interesting from this angle.

Might reposition the 8 ball to illuminate the number 8 more, as it is currently lost when it is the main feature. A little more DOF might help as the cue ball is also a major player.

At least something in the image needs to be sharp, and exposed faces/fronts are better in my book unless you have a great silhouette to highlight.

OOF full foreground ball is annoying. Consider partially cropping it so that the viewer wont expect it to be clear.

Faces! Sharp focus! Finally musician/concert images with faces in focus. To bad the guitar stem cuts through the head, but I'm happy to see faces. Might see if you can pull down the highlights/white-level a little.
