I'm Still Standing.......by agwrightComment: I like the board under glass with the pieces on top... It makes the king seem like it is floating. The only thing I don't like about it is the checkerboard pattern reflection. Lighting, DOF, focus, basically all technical aspects are perfect. Nice shot. 8 |

Red, red wineby JeanComment: This shot is very interesting. I'm curious as to how you achieved the effect. You have different patterns in the wine glass as compared to the background, and the reflection is curved. Not sure how you didi it, but I like it! |

Stranger In My Cup by RackatComment: I like this idea and you did it well. For some reason, the goldish glaze on the to p of the handle is a little distracting to me. I feel this would work better with an all white cup. The water scene is perfect for this shot and the colors are great, but the gold pulls my eye away from that. Nicely done image, though! Good Luck

I've Seen All Good Peopleby KickDrum5150Comment: I bought a glass chess set about two months ago to do shots like this. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but when I do, I hope I can come up with something this nice! Your lighting is perfect. No hotspots, no shadows, just the right amount of subtle reflections. I believe in the whole good vs evil in the world and I like the way you used frosted white chess pieces to represent 'all good people.' The only things I can think of to improve would be to crop tighter on the right side to exclude the partial pawn. I like the cropping on the left side pawn because it feels 'contained' but there is too little of the pawn on the right and it seems a little cut off. I would also play around with the saturation of the yellows to reduce the yellowish brown thin band behind the pieces to the left at the edge of the board. These two points are fairly minor (actually the yellowish band is pretty much nit-picking). I like this image and give it a 9!

me & my friends (by the red hot chili peppers)by johnny_justjohnnyComment: This shot has a lot of character! Great idea! The colors seem a little flat. Was that an adjustment you made or was it overcast with flat lighting? Did you try this in black and white? This would be a fun reshoot with blue cloudy skies to the left! Your subject placement and crop are excellent! It's too bad you can't get closer to the mirror so that your images are larger in the photo. Maybe a ladder? People might wonder what you were doing if you go overboard (as I am doing rambling on)!! OK overall a great idea, great composition, Lots of fun and I give it an 8! good luck!

Sunglasses At Night (Cory Hart - 80's song)by khanhxComment: This is very well done. Some may think it is a little dark overall, but I think that conveys the 'at night' part of the title. If I were to change anything at all, it would be a little more room beneath the chin. I usually just ignore added borders, but your white frame really compliments the reflection in the glasses. this is a great image and I'm giving it a 9. Good luck!

"Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" -Elton Johnby Mrs. POTUSComment: I like sunset and sunrise shots! Is that another photographer with a tripod near where the sun meets the horizon? I like the way you were able to get some foreground detail without completely blowing out the highlights. I also like the shape of the water in the foreground. Nice job! this is also the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding for the first time! For that you get a 9!! |
