My Seafaring Brotherby StrikeslipComment: Nice composition.
I'd suggest four changes, all of which occur when you take the shot:
1) Try either shooting when the sun's not so high or use a fill flash
2) Check the focus and retake when it's not sharp (if you can, zoom in while in review mode to see what's sharp). Try to focus on eyes instead of noses.
3) Be careful with the highlights. In some cameras, the review mode will show you areas that are blown out. If so, try underexposing or set the exposure for his shirt instead of the center of the picture.
4) Try to get him against all sky or all water. The horizon cutting through his head is distracting.
With those, I would've bumped from a 4 to a 6. |

Actually, Annasense, I do like it. I think it might be cropped to closely at the top, though; the dog's chest grabs me more than his face.
More than that, though, I'm curious how you did it. Was the original in sharp focus? Could you post the original, too?

Spectrumby annasenseComment: This was one of the first pics I stumbled into after joining. I love it! What an innovative way to show the colors.
I also like how you cropped it to show that it continues beyond what's included.
I'm also geek enough to know you got the spectrum in the right order. :) |
