I just ordered one. DpChallenge forums strikes again.

I swear this place if worse the the worlds best salesman.

I wasn't even looking to enhance my flash.

I just ordered both the Nikon SB600 flash and the Lightsphere II. I checked around for the best price on the flash and found it on ebay. I hope I ordered the right size lightsphere now (P1?). Can a Nikon user confirm this for me (P1 that is).

I'm really excited after hearing all of you talk about the Lightsphere II.

Looks like all the Nikon flashes are P1 sized.

New Lighshpere Cloud

I just order it a a repaclement for the wrong one they sent me (oredered a P-1 I got P-4) so when they make it right I will have both of the lighspheres.

Anyone use the Cloud yet? Mine is on the way.

Looks cool just like the other one but with a little sofer light.

Only took 2 images so far with my wrong lightsphere and I this thing rocks the most.

I have used the 380EX with a v1 lightsphere (the hard kind) - worked v well. Take a few photos with it and without it: there are not many options on the 380EX, so there is a limited amount to learn before you start experimenting!

I too have just ordered a Lightsphere Cloud for my 580EX. My only gripe is that I wish that he would provide a cheaper postal option (post costs more than the product to get it to the UK, though that is still cheaper than the "official" UK importer's price).

If they are letting you keep both, do you want to sell one of your domes?

I have the early LS PJ and I don't have the dome. They sell one for $12.95 + 6.53 shipping. The $12.95 isn't bad by itself but after shipping it gets quite expensive for something very similar to a coffee can lid.

I bet it would only cost a couple dollars or less to ship it USPS.

Yeah I am going to keep both sorry.

I just really wanted one that fit.

But when I got the email about the Cloud I decided to send the other back for the right one and get the cloud too.

I had to buy both they just made a mistake on shipping out the wrong one but to get my replacement I had to send the wrong one back.

Other wise I would have been happy to sell it to you.

(My mind's not working with me today sorry about the choppy statements and bad grammar.)
Good Luck

Erick

Edit: To fix spelling

got my lightsphere the other day :)

a big thanks to Art Roflmao for being so kind and going to the effort of sending one to the far off land of norway.

I hope to put up some test shots soon.

Glad to hear, Tyler. It wasn't as big a deal as the USPS website info would have me believe. Looking forward to some shots!

Yes, please post samples. This thing looks way more useable than the Lumiquest Ultrastoft thing I use now (huge and draws an awful lot of unwanted attention + hell to fit on the flash the right way = don't like to use it).

well if your two gripes are 'way to large' and 'hard to fit on' .. i don't think the lightsphere is going to be any better :S

I think it is pretty good at difusing light, but it is the size of a very large cereal bowl on top of the flash :)
and if I don't break my flash in the nest year trying to put it on, I'll be lucky.

I just got mine the other day, had to wait for my new flash to arrive to use the darn thing though. :(

But - both are here now! :D

What I did learn from trying to put it on and had same problems as everyone else is that, if you take the dome off, and squeeze the sides gently it does help a 'little' with making it slide on the flash easier.

My 'models' kept moving last night, damn animals never listen, you'd think they were the bosses instead of us! ;) So, I guess I will have to resort to stuffed animals today. Noooooooo.... I don't mean the ones that weren't listening. :P

Off to watch the disc that came with. I already know though, that I want the Cloud one too... that will be awesome for closeups.

If you have problems getting the lightsphere on the flash, look at it closely.

The Lightsphere 4 (for the 580ex) only goes on in one direction. The flash has a "bump" on one side of the lens and the lightsphere has a corresponding bump molded into it.

Love mine so far. Lightsphere II on SB600 bounced off ceiling. A little ambient light from a window on the right.

how would you compare the 580's catchlight to the lightsphere? I'm pretty happy with mine but was wondering if there was any difference...

anyone possibly have any examples?

I beg to differ...

But it is good for between meal snacks and if I turn it over, it holds a fair amount of Trail Mix. :)

I used it for this shot on a remote, aimed down position at the subjects as a fill.

P1 fits the SB800, but check the measurement chart before you order, don't go by the flash chart. My other flash, SB25 took a P4, even tho the flash chart indicates a P3. I had to send the P3 back for replacement, which they did at no charge.

I ordered an on-camera flash today (as well as an Epson P2000 portable storage viewer). Since I've never used on-camera flash I wasn't even aware of the Lightsphere other than as a vague reference. Read this thread, though, and thought what the hay, I'll take one of those too! Looks like a no brainer to me... looking forward to more toys... will the learning (and buying) never end!??

You are too much Ken! :P~~~~~~

I also did something that is unheard of... I watched the video on the disk that came with the lightsphere. Gary actually shows super easy way to put it on the flash.

- Put your hand inside the lightsphere and guide it on the flash. -

I also learned some other tips by watching it. First 9 chapters on the disk is about the lightsphere, after that it's about other products that he has for sale.

Cindi - love your idea... would you pass the chips&dip please! ;)
