Wow nice image, sorry for the DQ. I got stripped of my first ribbon. Same reason, not the same technique though. |

Sorry to see the DQ. I noticed you have been on a great run on your recent return to challenges. I am sure this is just a minor bump in the road. Nice job. |

Great image. Sorry about the DQ. I understand why you used the stick - banana chunks are a bit heavy to try to levitate on a thread.
I'm guessing acceptability depends on how visibly significant the original was - a thread being pretty insignificant, but the stick being pretty significant. Not sure about the visible in the thumbnail concept - one of my dq's was for a software bug-induced change that was barely visible in the full-sized image, and others have gotten a DQ for something not visible on their monitor (but it was on others').
Regardless, it is still a great image, and was voted highly by the majority of your peers on dpc.
WE NEED NEW REFS! (Oh, sorry, confused DPC with NFL there for a second...)

Oh... yeah... the stick is too thick to not be noticed in the thumb... that's the rule I heard one should use. Can't remove anything that's noticeable in the thumbnail image of it.
Still... it sucks. I hate DQs for anyone. |

Yeah, it was slippery for me too. You can see the slices started melting because of adjustments I did (many times). I used a lengthier stick :)

I agree with you Giles_uk on the creative part. Its not a new thing I tried. I just wanted to try this for this challenge. Thanks for the frank opinion. I also had doubt on the approval of SC and submitted the original along with my entry when I entered into this challenge. I've seen similar cloning out methods got approved. Anyway, fingers crossed. |

Be interesting to see if it survives validation, I'm guessing you cloned out the cocktail sticks, I'd think that's pushing it for advanced but will leave it to sc. I google imaged searched for this challenge and a sea of these came up, surprised this did so well given its a cliche of sorts. I gave it a 5, unimaginative and not particularly amazingly executed lighting was flat and It just didn't wow me. Not to take credit away or have a go just wanted to give my honest opinion, was a good score and well done on your ribbon, it's just didn't connect with me.
this is what i meant re lighting //500px.com/photo/5306378

Congrats with your first (blue) ribbon. Well deserved, great picture (especially the two peels the banana is resting on). |

Well done and great execution! I have done one of these before and know how damn fiddly it is. I read that people use cocktail sticks to do it but when I tried this the slices just slipped so I used a metal kebab skewer - still a bit of a slippery experience though.
Congrats on the ribbon!! |

My favorite of the sliced banana entries and one of my favorites overall in the challenge. Really like the lighting; the individual slices are nicely shiny and detailed but nothing is blown out or harshly shadowed. The peel is also rather artfully composed. |

best shot for floating in the air bananas of this challenge. A 8 from me for the excellent technique and result, but still some emotion is missing. |

How the heck did you do this? I mean its advanced editing so really thinking hard cuz this could easily be done in expert of course. You have me baffled. |
