 Thanks to everyone for taking the time to vote and comment.

It's been a couple of years since I shot at this place. It's a beach park near where I grew up. I was never really satisfied with the previous shots so figured I'd try it again.

I was a bit disappointed that the owner now had a kayak that was resting on the stand next to the canoe. I took a bunch of shots but knew they wouldn't be very good with a bright green kayak there. I got up the nerve to get the owner's attention by waving at him from the beach (he was in his kitchen) and asked him if I could move the kayak and replace it when I was finished. What I didn't realize was that the kayak was lashed down and was really heavy. Fortunately he was kind enough to hop his wall and help me move the kayak.

We talked during the exposures and come to find out, he was a semi-professional photographer in the 50s. I guess he could relate to what I wanted to do so was happy to help; very cool guy.

Thanks for telling us more about the image and always love that. Just the Image though beautiful just has so much more to it when some background is given. Congrats on the Ribbon and your name just keeps on popping up..will have to go and check whats happening in the FSM Marathon

I did tell him I'd gladly send him the shot, but he said he already had dozens of shots of this canoe that he'd taken. :)

Have to give you a premium score for this. But I personally think the contrast is a little strong. Makes the image look un-natural. But, on the other side of the coin, you succeeded with telling the story of the canoe yearning for a future journey with it's passengers.

Silky smooth and classic Cuttooth. I like the composition. The time of day to capture this, get the tides right AND the light and some cloud all make this a very technically difficult shot. Some people have commented on my images that the technicals of my image are unimportant (when I post them under comments). On the contrary, especially scapes of any format take a lot of planning and technical photography skills. Notwithstanding that this is also a learning channel. Others like to know how to do this and sharing is caring. One nitpick is the horison (horizon) 'appears' CW by 1 degree due the shadows to the right. Optical illusion but it does feel off.

This is right up there.
