Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: High Contrast V (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Location: Chateau Snaffles
Date: Nov 17, 2012
Aperture: f3.2
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Nov 18, 2012

Wanted to capture a slightly naive, bewildered look in an 80s-style shot. I was actually all dressed up in an outfit that conveyed anything but innocence, but after awhile decided to go for a pure portrait.

I'm pretty sure my remotes are both screwed up, so Ryan hit the shutter and is the figure reflected in my eyes.

Sitting on the kitchen floor, camera on tripod, Flash Gordon up and bounced off ceiling with diffuser. Also had overhead kitchen light on but it cast too many hard shadows.

pp: altered the shit out of the RAW, brightness/contrast, vibrance/saturation, crop, desaturate, resize, minor cloning, save for web

Well done. Very cool. Texture in the lips and eyes are spot on.

If this is of the 5 senses then you left off hearing, but as is, I love it. Subtle. Excellent use of high contrast to highlight the necessary.

Artistically done, rather than just contrast slider adjustment.

That's about as high contrast as you can get. Nice job.

My perception is that this is high key not high contrast.

Finally! A nice, high contrast image. The high key is beautiful
