Critique Club Review

Definetly a different perspective on things.

The lines of the building tend to guide the eye right past the door and windows, off into an impossibly blue sky. Looks almost like a frame out of a dream sequence. Very disorienting and unusual. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. The focus and depth of field here is excellent. Color renditon is also very realistic. (Well except for the sky anyway.)

Overall I like this picture. However, my eye keeps wishing for something in the sky. (Sun, clouds, birds, God, etc.)

There is a lot of texture to this picture, which I find very enjoyable. The wet looking stone, and arch over the door are fantastic.

I love the angle you've used to get this in the frame, and the colour & detail on the door and arch are fantastic, but I really don't like the sky. It looks totally false and doesn't fit the picture comfortably.

Love the angle looking up, but why the tilt? Not sure I like that. This is such a beautiful old church, it seem such a shame to ruin it by tilting the photo. I love the stone work. I just love the old building and the photo is beautiful, and well done - with that one exception. That tilt hurts me.

Wow... it's weird when you take a photo from one angle and then rotate it. The distorted perspective has an odd effect. The subtle beauty of the colours and textures of this old building are a bit diminished by the artificially blue sky.

I love this shot, great angle.

Great angle and cropping. I might have like the sky a little desaturated if I would change anything, 9

I love the perspective on this, and I like how it looks crowded at the top, though ordinarily I wouldn't. Great colors and capture!

Incredible architectural detail here, but the odd angle of the building/composition really throws me off. I'm not crazy about the way the sky looks either. That's a very stark blue, and seems very at odds with the obviously old building.

challenge met. nice photo, i like it a lot. the angle and crop is very nice, and almost makes me feel dizzy. lots of lines leading you through the shot. the lighting also looks very nice and even, this must've been taken on an overcast day. which is what makes the sky look a little too blue. i suspect that you took advantage of the editing freedom of this challenge. :) i personally think having the sky blue (but not that blue) or even a real sky with subtle clouds to make it look less uniform would've worked better. your photo is still amongst my top picks :)

Strong image. Door and windows really secondary, but do fit challenge. Not sure about angle of presentation but it does catch the eye. 9 JEM

Nice point of view, and depth of field. You must have a very good camera. If you could have taken it at a different time of day you could have gotten some really neat shadows. Good luck. John Gill

The sky color looks very fake. It may not be fake, but it looks like this building is glued on it. Awesome building by the way, and very well portrayed here. - Inspzil

Nice composition. Good sharp focus as well. I find the sky MUCH too blue though. The church looks like it is set against a "blue screen".

Very nice perspective...focus right on.

I like the building a lot, but the very top looks cut out with the sky stuck in the background.

powerful image.

Very nice detail. The bright blue sky seems a bit too much, but I like the photo as a whole. Good job. Jacko.

Interesting subject, but the blue of the sky is overdone. It is too unreal.

The flat, unnatural blue sky detracts from an otherwise interesting shot... perhaps a gradient would have served you better on this one.
