Challenge: Best of 2005 (Advanced Editing IV*)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Location: Backyard, CA
Date: Jun 13, 2005
Aperture: f/9.0
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/160
Galleries: Family, Candid
Date Uploaded: Jan 1, 2006

This pic has been in my portfolio for awhile and picked as a favorite by a number of people, so I'm hoping that will not hurt the voting, as it is clearly my best picture of 2005 (and perhaps for the rest of my life, as moments like these do not come around often).

The subject of interest is literally an ant in her (under)pants. You have met my daughter before in my "Shallow DOF II" entry. I'm sure my son will make another appearance sometime in the future - regardless of those "I don't like cute kid pictures" voters. :-)

Little post processing - slight crop off the top, levels, resize, USM, borders. This picture was taken on a hot California day in June 2005.

Should have been in my favorites long ago. On the "heartwarming slice of life" side, this has to be the best picture in DPC, I swear...

I can't believe I didn't snag this as a favorite before. What was I thinking? A perfect moment captured of young innocence.

Wandering through YouTube, I spotted your shot here as the thumbnail for this video collection of funny pictures
(About 1/2 through the video is your picture, and is complete with a balloon caption no less)

The people that gave you "1" are probably offended in some way. Don't let it spoil it for you.
No. 126 of over 800 is pretty good but this was the best picture in my opinion. Yesterday I realized that I didn't see in the top score and started to search for it. Disappointed in seeing it not among the best 20.
Great colours, great shot, great caption, great humor, innocence. Everything that you want to see in a good picture.

I vaguely remembered seeing this shot, or one like, somewhere in the past but still gave it my highest score in this challenge. I think it should have been at least a top ten. It's really a lot more than just a "cute kids" picture. Makes me think of Norman Rockwell.

great picture... quite underrated if you ask me. I was all ready to see this on the front page. You created a certain kind of perfection here, and I find it highly impressive on all levels.

For me this is a toss up (actually I would like to see 2 Blue Ribbons awarded in this 'Best of 2005' challenge) because both of them to me are;
"Skip, In my book your picture & that of the "Two Inniocenceof Youth" kids both illustrating excellently ~ "Flawless Execution" 10's to both!

Some may think this is inappropriate. I'm sure you are/have gotten some comments like that. I wish that this was not the world that we live in today. Give the kids back their childhood. I've seen it in your gallery but I'm not sure who you are and to keep the integrity of the contest will not look you up. I'm giving you one of my best ever scores for this for your realizing this is an awesome shot. For realizing the innocence of youth can still exist. For braving the comments that I'm sure you are/have gotten. Because this is an awesome shot and deserves it!
Kudos
