Flamingo. It was a bright sunny day and I have no idea why I was shooting at f4 under those conditions. D'Oh! Anyway, this is a cropped and re-edited version of a pic that was in my portfolio for quite some time, so many DPCers have seen it. I hope that doesn't hurt me. I took lots of "favorite" shots in 2005, but this is the one I wanted to submit, hands down. Title from the poem "Gertrude of Wyoming" by Thomas Campbell.

This is beautiful! The more I see of your work, the more I like it, especially since it isn't all the same type pictures.

So red - the flamingos in my part of the world are merely slightly pink tinged white! Fantastic clarity - sharp as a tack.

I like this one for its detail of the head. it has been cropped about right and the detail in the feathers is excellent, the beady eye and shape of beak give the otherwise peaceful bird a slightly menacing look.

Excellent capture. I gave this a 10 - really have nothing to suggest to improve. Color, sharpness, compostion, DoF - all wonderful. I love how the flamingo's eye color compliments the background. I'm thinking I have seen this before and might even have it as a fave already. Adding it again just in case.

The color is wonderful. The abstract design is interesting. For me it is just a bit too tight a crop in front of the bird's beak. Still a fine natural abstract.

Nice shot! I would have scored this higher had there been more room in front of the beak and top of the head - this just seems very very tight and squished to me.

I think it is cropped a bit close to the beak on the left, it needs some breathing room I think.
