I'm afraid this one bypassed me completely. I thought you might be saying something about industrial pollution, but these are cooling towers not smoke stacks. Perhaps some radiation hazard sign in the foreground might have helped.

This photograph that I took was an example of nuclear imagination. I couldn't very well take a picture of a nuclear bomb. I wanted to make a statement about nuclear destruction in a photograph that could happen without having the destruction. I have lived 51 years in fear, or not knowing about atomic power. No, the reactors I believe are not online because they were made like 3-mile island and we know what happened there. I was in awe of the structures and it is too bad that nuclear power is not 100 % safe. Then again you still have the atomic waste that is radioactive and no where to put it safely.

hah! ... No, you needn't say more...

Disagree politically, electronically, and environmentally. Might look more overbearing if aligned at perfect vertical. Clever composition with the tree.
07/14/2002 05:00:00 PM
I agree wholeheartedly. <shiver>
07/14/2002 03:53:00 AM
simple and powerful. could be a little sharper.
07/14/2002 12:36:00 AM
yes u do
07/13/2002 05:10:00 PM

07/13/2002 03:42:00 PM
Yep nuff said there
07/12/2002 04:44:00 PM
Good composition.
07/11/2002 11:31:00 AM
The part of this photo that really draws my attention are the shadows on the stacks. You chose the right time of day to take this. Composition is very nice as well.
07/11/2002 08:05:00 AM
Tilted and slightly off center but good idea.
07/10/2002 11:21:00 PM
very nice! I like the composition here because the fence and the tree give nice perspective to the immense size of these towers... the lighting also creates a nice shadow diagonal on each tower... i like that! Good work! = 9 - jmsetzler

It would have been more intimidating without the tree, but I understand you have to work with what you can get. Meets the challenge. A 6 by Autool

Great shot, simple, straight forward, fear well represented. (Honestly, they don't look as if they are "in production".) 8 Swash

Doesn't show fear, plus pic does not seem very crisp or sharp.
07/10/2002 01:38:00 PM
Nope. Ominous looking things aren't they. The only thing scarier would be if smoke was coming out, or lights were flashing or something. Did you try it in black and white?. Sometimes that will give a more ominous mood.
07/10/2002 01:28:00 PM
yes, you need to say more
07/10/2002 12:35:00 PM
Only fearful for the uninformed.
07/10/2002 10:03:00 AM
good shot. I love this... just a little crooked though, or is it my eyes?
07/10/2002 04:22:00 AM
Insted of Yucca Mountain, Nevada, maybe they should find a more useless, out-of-the way place to store that 77,000 tons of radioative waste...say, Crawford, Texas. That IS a mutant rose bush in the foreground, right?
07/10/2002 01:49:00 AM
Ominous photo. I’m loosing my hair just looking at this one. – Great detail, perhaps a touch over exposed.
07/10/2002 01:07:00 AM
interesting thought
07/09/2002 08:49:00 PM
cool. you could have upped the contrast in your image editing program. i think that woul dhave helped the slightly washed out feel.
07/09/2002 05:21:00 PM
Rancho Seco?
07/09/2002 04:41:00 PM
meeting challenge = 5, photo quality =4 - looks like it could use a tiny tilt to the right to level it off. total = 9 good job!
07/09/2002 03:29:00 PM
Lovely photo. Not really an impression that I can connect with tho. Dogman :] "7"
07/09/2002 09:58:00 AM
...yes
07/09/2002 09:23:00 AM
I like the look of the cooling towers and the way the shadows fall on them. The tree however, needs to go...
07/09/2002 04:03:00 AM
yes .. you need say more
07/09/2002 01:38:00 AM
what makes this image fearful? or experiencing any type of fear ... and to me you would have to say more because i dont know what that is ...
07/08/2002 11:39:00 PM
crazy...
07/08/2002 09:08:00 PM
Message received. Are the towers shot off level or are they starting to lean?
07/08/2002 07:28:00 PM
In light of the subject,(fear), I find this picture interesting since it is, to me, the absolute LEAST fearful thing - I work there every day! Nice picture though!
07/08/2002 05:10:00 PM
Excellent photo, great composition and good choice of time to shoot the photo. Great job! As well, captured the topic well.
07/08/2002 02:50:00 PM
No, you need not. I don't live far from these babies myself at a place called Limeric, PA. They give me the creeps everytime I drive by.
07/08/2002 02:27:00 PM
Nuclear
07/08/2002 01:26:00 PM
yes you do. done at sunset may have improved the image.
07/08/2002 01:13:00 PM
Strong shot, just a bit tilted though
07/08/2002 01:04:00 PM
one of my worst fears
07/08/2002 09:07:00 AM
um... yes you do need to say more... or may... just take another picture.
07/08/2002 01:55:00 AM
Wonderful photo. I see it as beauty not fear though. I'm not sure what those are.
