I hope not -- ever! Maybe for the Teletubbies...

This rather uninteresting composition seems to barely scrape close to the challenge.

Idea is OK but the picture is more like a family album snap shot. What I mean by that is what's in it for someone who doesn't know the subject? Trying unsucessfully to explain why this doesn't work for me, I apologise that I am not more articulate.

Well, gee, just submit a crappy snapshot of dad playing with toys, why don't you? yikes.

Funny.

a clever twist on something old.

Ah! humor!! I wish you'd have shot it more on his level and less the top of his head/body...but then, maybe you did and chose this one. Nice humor.

i don't know ... even parents should be allowed to have some fun sometimes! :) nice focus and idea for this challenge, i think what would've helped your photo do even better would be a different angle, maybe get lower so you are more on the same level as dad. -- gr8photos (5)

In my opinion, this is a side-step of the challenge. The toys are new, the man isn't THAT old (no gray hair!) and I play with toys (cat-toys, yes, but they are toys). The photo is well taken and hammy acted, but I cannot agree with this interpretation of the challenge. Best I can go is 6. Swash

Subject is near the edge on this challenge. It looks like the focus is a little soft. Autool

I really don't think the gentleman in this photo is quite old enough to qualify for what I would consider "Something Old" ! I think I see the intended relationship between the child's things, and the age of the man, but for me, it just doesn't "hit the target" of the intent of the challenge. The shot is also too "busy" for my taste. lhall

totally unimaginative

is there a negative rating?

Something old. Use your photographic technique to emphasize the age of your subject.
Composition - good. Background is a little busy
Technical Aspects - good. even lighting, good focus.
Meets Challenge - possibly. Better if there was a young child also present for contrast.
Visual Impact / Originality - good, good colors

Never too old for any toy.

The humor is good, but the photo is dull.
08/05/2002 03:55:00 AM
yes :P

I would much rather have seen something 'old' in the photo rather than a play on words in the title for the challenge... - jmsetzler
