INGREDIENTS
1 Sack live crawfish (36-42lbs)
16oz (1 can) salt
16oz Liquid Crawfish Crab and Shrimp Boil Concentrate
1 dozen lemons, cut in half
1 dozen ears of corn, cut in half
3-5lbs small, red potatoes washed but not peeled
6 cloves of garlic, cut in half and cleaned
Water to cover 1/2 to 2/3 of the pot
Dill

Large boiling pot
Bring water to a boil.
Add seasonings, allow to boil at least 5 minutes,
Add crawfish to water at a rolling boil.
Cook 10-15 minutes or until crawfish start to float.
Allow to soak at least 15-20 minutes (the longer they soak, the spicier and more flavorful they will be!).
Remove from water and enjoy!

You can add anything else you want to the boil...use your imagination!
Cooking water can be used over and over, adding seasonings when the batches begin to loose flavor. Do not use water that has been cooled completely though - start a new pot!

Hey Carsten good on ya! Now you have a red ribbon to break up that blue/yellow monotony in your profile. And you've made your mark on the 10D profile page as well. Prost!

Beautiful shot. Rich tones, lovely colours and (despite my pity for it!) a tasty looking dish. Hope it didn\'t die in vain. ;) [10]

Congrats on the blue ribbon...

Very nice, great detail and I really like the dof. 10 (even though by doing this I'm sure I'm shooting myself in the foot! Good luck,

This doesnt look very appetizing to me personally, but the image is really good. It has a nice bright redness, which really highlights the garnish. The use of dof works well too. The lighting seems spot on also. Not sure i can see much here to improve on.

Great photo, but I would have to leave the table if this were served to me! I like mine already out of the shell. 9

I like the colour contrasts in this - with the green/ blue background - good choice of focus. Maybe the foreground leaves are distracting and spoil the 'lead in' but that is minor.

My second highest rated shot of the week. Would be higher if the foreground wasn't so distracting. Great image. 9

I like it. The focus is right where it should be, Those eyes saying "come on and eat me"!

To eat it, or be eaten by it, that is the question. Nice photo.

Nice composition and DOF. Excellent contrast too. I'm not normally keen on food that looks back at me, but this is an excellent shot.

Great closeup of the crawfish. The greens mixed with the red color of the main subject helps to give great interest to the shot. The pictures shows all the textures on the crawfish (bumps and ridges). I like how you positioned the head making the eyes look right at you.

Beautiful detail in the crawfish face and legs. How can you eat something that is looking at you with such an expression? In my view, the garnish in the background adds to the picture; the garnish in the front should either have been placed to keep it in focus or removed.

I have never eaten crawfish before but this photo certainly makes it look appealing :) = 10

Very nice shot indeed. The focus on the crawfish's head has worked really well when you then look at the locus on the green stuff.

Even though I don\'t really like crawdads, this is the best shot in here so far, 10. Really cookbook cover quality!!

My favorite picture even though I have never eaten a crawfish. THis one seems t be daring me to try. The sprigs of greaan give a nice touch of color, the border is well done. Technically lovely, perfect focus and nice DOF to make those accusing eyes really stand out. All leading lines point towards the eyes.

Very nice presentation of an ugly beast. I really like how you have his face in focus and the dof kind of trickling off from there. I also like how a little bit of the garnish is also in focus. the bottom left corner is a little busy with the different directions of the out of focus leaves, but it doesn't take away horribly from the main subject. Very nice detail in his face. You show us the textures really well. Nice shot. ~Heather~

UPDATE: I had already given this a 9, but after reviewing the other submissions, I have no doubt this will be in the top 3. Good work.

HEY! HE IS STARING AT ME! LOL! One of the reasons I don't eat crawfish though I hear they are delicious. This is a wonderful shot, the colors are vibrant, the clarity is fanstistic, the subject fits the challenge without a doubt and capturing those eyes so they look right in the camera, wonderul. The only thing that bothered me about the whole this was the sprig in the front, the blurred out one, it adds to the shot but takes away at the same time. You get a 9 from me.

eww.. heh. Great closeup, fantastic brilliant colors - I like the yellow & green against the red. Not overly cluttered, great focus. Only complaint is that sprig of whatever in the lower left corner, fairly distracting. 7

This must be a shot from Sweden! Don´t know anywhere else where people eat the crawfish with dillkronor! A very very good picture, so sharp and just perfect!

Very awesome photo. DOF is perfect and the focus and detail are great. Colors fit wonderfully and I like the green in the bottom corner. I had one of those things on my honeymoon and I didn't like them. The one that I had, had little red eggs all in it and it was kind of gross. Awesome shot though.
