just not for me. i am curious, though, as to why you would 1) consider this to be your best photo of the year, and 2) why you would think this would score well in a competition that is known for rewarding eye-candy as opposed to in-your-face images...

For this kind of shot, it might pay dividends to find a more "perfect" model - contact lenses and the injury don't help this image.

A lovely eye - the colors are beautiful. I wish you'd had the contact lense taken out - it really gets in the way of enjoying the eye. The crop is odd too - to cut off the right edge is too abrupt. I would like to play with rotating a bit to get a more dynamic diagonal.

Strange take on the commonly photoed subject. The spot on the lower eyelid looks like a bug.??
I studied some eyeridology years ago, and this looks like the eye of a rather ill person.
Some soft light from each side might be a better choice of lighting for this.
