Thanks for all the comments. Yes, the bird was definitely real, and I erected the perch on Tuesday and finally got this shot on Friday. I had a couple of other shots with finches on the pencil, but the titmouse is a less frequent visitor! I only had this and two other shots in total to pick from, so was a tough but rewarding challenge for me. |

Excellent capture -- did you have to wait long? I love the detail in this image, especially in the feet, and feathers. Depth of field is very good too -- great job! 10 LanSnake |

Great photo of a bird (8 if 'birds' were the theme), but the pencils are anecdotal (4). |

Not sure if PC or PH oto. Looks like could be done entirely in camera. Will give benefit of the doubt. |

Great bird shot. (Kinda makes the pencils insignificant, but who's counting?) The detail of the bird is exquisite! 9 Swash |

I should have figured you would get your bird picture into the pencil challenge. |

Impressive to get the bird actually on the pencil, which does bring it more into the shot, although I still find myself thinking, "so it's a pencil instead of a regular stick, so what?". But it's a great photo of the bird, with seed in mouth, and I love the glint in the eye. Would lose the little bits of other pencils at left and right. 5, Kavey |

Beautiful use for pencils! Nice photograph with good catch light in the titmouse's eye. Simple uncluttered background makes the bird stand out. Very nice! Grayce...aka...gracious |

The clarity of that bird is amazing. He's even got something in his mouth! Yup, I see the pencils. lol. Lighting is beautiful and I love how the background is just that. Background and nothing else. Nothing really that I would change here. He's beautiful. Good luck in the challenge. |

Nice job, he even posed for you. How long of a lens did you use? Very clear focus, it looks like you were only a couple of inches away. |
