The lighting and angle are great. I like how you threw the weed in there. Also, I think it's cute that they are at different stages of "growing" with a couple of the pencils having half of an eraser and the rest having new erasers. Also, it's neat how you have all the words showing, but not all head on, some are being viewed at an angle. Focus is really great. Nice job and good luck in the challenge.

i can't believe you weren't the only one with this idea, there must be some strange minds working out there

I was surprised at the number of garden pencils we got this week. I very much liked your idea of the weed. Did you have any hidden meaning in the erasures? Very funny. (just because other's thought of a similar idea, don't put up with any cliche comments...good job!) 8 Swash

I imagine these will grow into those fat pencils you use in elementary school? Creative.

funny idea, especially adding the 'weed'. good placement of it, too. i think i would've liked this better if the pencils were continuing in the background (a portrait format allows you to cover more space with the same amount of pencils if you don't have more) so that it doesn't just look like a bunch of pencils stuck in the soil, but like a close-up of a section of a field of pencils. -- gr8photos (3)

Interesting and I like the inclusion of the blue. Prefer not to have parts of some pencils cropped out.

The concept, I think, is like mine except that you used the erasers to show growth. I enjoy your take. I would have liked to see some sky, maybe using a lower angle would show growth greater.

This is an inventive idea; a crop of pencilsâ€Â¦ It's technically well done and it jumps out. Great DOF. Small gripe – I think that a slight change of angle and cropping so that it looked like a field of millions rather than a small vegetable (pencil) patch. Like a say, small gripeâ€Â¦ (9)

I was thinking about doing this but didn't want to have to weed the gardern. Great Photo. (8)
