Can't find 1 thing I don't like. I'm giving it a 10. Briefly, what stands out to me: slight angle, cropping, coloring, softness, simple, detail, slight graniness. All these things, for me, make this a great photo. Great Work!! Ruthann |

Lovely close up of a detail. Wonderful burnished feel to the metal. Seems too red overall for me. 7, Kavey |

I like the idea, just wish the color was more natural, it makes the focus seem softer than it probably is |

This is a nice macro view, but I don't care for the lighting tint here... If your camera has white balance capabilities, you may want to investiage them. The white balance would allow this shot to 'glow' very nicely in the indoor lighting :) - jmsetzler |

I really like this idea and it's a great macro shot with good shadows and not a lot of glare (glare on the ferrules was the biggest problem in my photo!).
This would be better, I think, if the colors were more pronounced so that it's not so washed out. Or grayscaled? That might make for an interesting shot as well. muckpond |

i'm sorry, this photo, while meeting the challenge, doesn't excite me very much. i think you probably went for those muted, similar colors (no bright yellow or red) deliberately, but personally, i feel they are missing, and the background has a color that's too similar. picture also doesn't seem quite sharp. -- gr8photos (3) |

This is a great idea. It needed better focus and better light. Good try and creative. Score 6 ~Kee |

I like this idea, but I think it would be more effective with a backround color that was more of a contrast. |

FERULE : A rod or stick used for punishing children. FERRULE: A metal ring or cap strengthening the end of a stick or tube.
Which one were you refering to?? LMAO. Guess it could be either one. We got a really good laugh out of this, seeing as that my mom is a teacher. Pencils do in a way punish children, and this is definately a metal ring or cap. No pun intended. Or was it?? Great photo. A bit dark, but probably nessasary to keep from having a really distracting bright spot. Great job and good luck in the challenge. |
