Poor dead fly. :-) From now on when I see one, I will suspect you! :-)))
Wonderful photo and congrats on the ribbon! :-) Macro II was a yellow as far as I remember. Just keep the fly, will surely bring you a bluey on Macro IV. :-))) |

this is one of the best macro shots I have ever seen. Fantastic detail, down to the hairy fly. Spectaculary sharp & in focus. Great contrast to highlight the furry bug. 10. Predicting a winner here! |

An odd shot this! It works and would score higher if the blurred dark area was absent. Nice detail on the stricken fly and it's well lit. |

Excellent exposure and clarity. Don't like flies but this is great. 9 |

Very good focus. Just a touch more DOF to get that wingtip, but good. Would like to have seen a green background (well most cactus are green), to give an appearance of in a big cactus patch |

nice macro - somewhat artificial placement of fly for this viewer |

This is my choice for the winner. Great lighting. Excellent DOF. Awesome detali. If that background could have stayed light all the way through the top, I'd give it a 10. But, as is 9. Thanks. |

Incredible! I'm kind of sorry that I have seen a fly up this close, but this shot is amazing. Great lighting. |

Ow! The cactus spikes certainly add interest and drama though one has to feel sorry for the little critter. Nice shot! |

Please tell me that poor little fly is not impaled on that cactus?! This is a wonderful shot (minus the impalement) :-) Very clear and detailed. The colors are nice too, it really makes the fly stand out. |

Technical: fits the challenge. Exposure composition focus lighting all excellent.
Personal: ugh.... this givem me the creeps! I don't want to know what flies look like up close! But it's definitely an excellent shot. I'll be interested to know what equipment you shot this with- I don't think I could get a shot like this with my camera!
My vote: 9 |
